What a Healthy Bunch ! Our Healthy School Week before half-term culminated in a fit Friday with everyone wearing sporting clothes representing over twenty sports that we enjoy including mountaineering, table tennis, cycling, sailing, golf and judo. In the afternoon KS2 pupils took part in the Inter-House Cross Country competition with Ambrey racing ahead with the most house tokens. Delicious class-made tray bakes made sure that we had enough energy to get through to the holiday ! Thank you to Mrs Smith for organising this special week and for your support. Lets keep those lunchboxes healthy !

PLEASE DO NOT PLAN HOLIDAYS DURING TERM TIME

School Family News It is always difficult to say Farewell and we have had to do this with great sadness as we have heard that our dear friend, Owen Shallcross, died quite suddenly during the half-term holiday. Mr Shallcross has been a wonderful friend to our school who weekly helped children with reading and maths. He always considered it a privilege to come into school but we were the ones who benefitted from the encouragement of this very gentle Christian man who encouraged us all. Over the years Mr Shallcross has generously donated books for our school library as well as giving the Jubilee New Testament Bibles for every child in 2011. We are so thankful for all that he has meant to our school and we send our love and deepest sympathy to his family. At the end of last half-term we also said farewell to dear Chelsea Davies and her Mum, our lunchtime supervisor, Sam Morris who have moved to live in Bromyard. We shall be welcoming Mrs Crump (Maddie and Aimees mum) and Miss Morris (Grace and Reeces mum) who join us as part of the lunchtime team. It is with mixed joy and sadness that we prepare to bid farewell to Ms Hughes at the end of this term; we are thrilled that Ms Hughes has been offered a full-time teaching post at Almeley Primary School but we know that we shall be losing an excellent and dedicated teacher. We shall be making plans to ensure that teaching and learning at our school remain outstanding and we shall inform you of new arrangements when they are finalised. Thank you for attending one of our Parents Evenings if you were unable to do so, PLEASE see your childs class teacher to arrange a mutually convenient time for this important conversation. Thank you to Mrs Wictome and Mrs Connop for serving coffee on those occasions and to Mrs Priday and Mrs Hoda who were the representative members of the Governing Body on those two evenings. The e-safety meeting on Monday reminded us again of our responsibilities to ensure that our child's internet world is as safe as their real world. If you were unable to attend, please ask at the school office for a sheet of websites etc., for essential information. We look forward to the next seven weeks with lots to look forward to please check that you have dates in your diary. For our monthly values from now until the end of the year we shall be thinking about the nine Fruits of the Spirit referred to in the Bible in Galatians Chapter 5, Verses 22 -25. In November we start with Goodness as we desire to be like good apples who benefit each other and build each other up.

Children in Need: Friday 15th November KS1 Disco 5pm6pm KS2 Disco 6.15pm7.30pm Please help us to help others by encouraging your child to fill the Children in Need bag that they brought home today with edible treats or any other goodies. We ask that it is brought to school next Friday when we shall be selling the bags for 1 during the day. In addition children can bring 1 in exchange for colourful clothing which includes at least one spotty item. Victorian Week in Class 5: Before the half term holiday, Class 5 experienced what it was like in Victorian England. We went to the Black Country Museum and experienced the life of two children (Samuel Webb and Harry Parkins). Then we were taught as Victorian children. We did some sewing with Mrs Smith and became detectives and studied some genuine artefacts from the Victorian era, whilst dressed up as Victorian children.

Butterfly Lion: Year 5 children, from Class 4, had a great evening when they went to the Malvern Theatre to enjoy Michael Morpurgos Butterfly Lion Library House Challenge: We have been delighted to see people using our School library but we would love to see more of you. So we are launching a house challenge: the team that borrows and reads the most books from the library will get a prize! The challenge begins on Monday 11th November and ends on Friday 13th December. So see you in the library soon! From the Librarians Shoeboxes 50 to go and one week left! Please get packing and wrapping! Museum on the Move and Music: On Monday, 11th November, every class will have chance to visit the Museum on the Move bus with the theme of Numbers and participate in a Music Workshop. Houses There was great excitement in Celebration Assembly on the Friday before half-term when tokens for attendance and for the Lets Grow vouchers were added in to those awarded to the children for school work and behaviour. Croft were thrilled to have extra playtime but, as you can see from the scores, it is very close and there is a long way to go before we have our overall House Champions next summer.
