Cousins & Cousins is a highly ambitious and experienced 15 person architectural practice with extensive understanding of the design and delivery of outstanding projects. Our aim is to develop architectural schemes of the highest quality which exceed the client expectations by providing superior service and innovative design solutions. Biographies
BEN COUSINS BA(Hons) Dip Arch ARB RIBA After graduating from Kingston University in 1997, Ben Cousins joined Michael Hopkins & Partners where he worked on a diverse range of detail-led projects, including the award winning Dynamic Earth Centre in Edinburgh. In 1999 he joined MMM Architects as project architect specialising in the delivery of residential projects. Following his new appointment at ESA Architects in 2001, Ben Cousins became the associate architect responsible for, amongst other things, the refurbishment of Chandos House, a Grade I listed Robert Adam house of significant architectural merit, where he honed his skills on the restoration of historic buildings. Between 2004 and 2012, Ben co-owned Cousins Wojciechowski Architects, which specialised in the development of super prime residential projects across central London. Following the separation of Cousins Wojciechowski Architects in 2012, Ben Cousins merged with his architect wifes established practice, where they now lead a team of highly experienced architects delivering exceptional projects across London. Ben Cousins is thoroughly involved in every project that is undertaken by the practice, and has a particular interest in detail design and delivery of the work.
JELENA COUSINS Dip Arch ARB Jelena Cousins (ne Blazek) was born in Rijeka, Croatia and then lived in Italy most of her childhood. She came to London to compete her studies at the Bartlet school of architecture after reading architecture at the University of IUAV in Venice, Italy. Following completion of her studies, Jelena worked for a number of high profile practices including David Gibson, Wilkinson Eyre and Hawkins Brown, where she refined her skills as project architect in a number of different sectors including office fit-out; education and high-end residential. In 2006, Jelena formed Cousins Architects which specialised in domestic refurbishment and undertook a number of complex and interesting projects such as the installation of 10 balconies to a residential wharf building over-sailing the Thames; fit-out of apartments and interior extension and refurbishments. Jelena has undertaken many invited competitions, including a collaborated with Buro Happold on a joint expression of interest for two competitions to design stations for high speed trains in Florence and Naples. Jelena has an incredibly refined eye for design, proportion, aesthetic and style, and is instrumental to the look and feel of every project in the practice.
