Interview Questions
T hese are just short and quick answers to your sof tware development lif e cycle questions. Press the read more button to get the complete answer to the question.

1. What are t he Disadvant ages of Prot ot ype Model?

Ans. Implementing the prototype model f or creating the sof tware has its disadvantages. Since it is being built out of concept, most of the models presented in early stage are not complete. T hey lack f laws that the developer still needs to work on them again and again. T he Integration cannot be very dif f icult f or prototype models. Hence this of ten happens when the other programs are already stable.

2. What is t he dif f erence bet ween an It erat ive model and t he Wat erf all model?
Ans. Waterf all Model is a f low based model, in which we pass every phase once, and can not go back to that phase again. Its most eminent drawback is that if there is any change in requirements, we cannot make any changes to the requirement section. Iterative Model is somewhat similar to waterf all model but herein we can always come back to previous phases, and make the changes accordingly.

3. Explain spiral model?

Ans. Spiral model is one of the dif f erent models implemented under Sof tware Development lif e cycle. It is very easy to understand by both the developer and customer and react to the risk at each elementary level. It uses reduction of the mechanism. It is divided into number of f ramework.

4. What are t he advant ages of Prot ot ype Model?

Ans. Creating sof tware using the prototype model has its benef its. One of the key advantages prototype model sof tware has is its time f rame of the development period. Everyone works on the same module and at the same time, hence reducing work hours in creating the sof tware. T his work can be f aster and more ef f icient if developers could collaborate more regarding the status of specif ic f unctions and thereby develop the necessary adjustments in timeline f or the integration.

5. How many t ypes of Prot ot ype models are t here?

Ans. T here are f our types of Prototype Models:

I. T he Patch-Up Prototype II. Nonoperational Prototype III. First-of -a-Series Prototype IV. Selected Features Prototype

6. What are t he dif f erent phases in SDLC?

Ans. T here are 5 phases in Sof tware Development Lif e Cycle: 1. Requirement & analysis 2. Design 3. Coding 4. Testing 5. Maintenance

7. Explain t he Dif f erence bet ween SDLC and STLC?

Ans. SDLC is a sof tware development lif e Cycle model which is utilized f or project management and involves processes f rom the f easibility Analysis to maintenance of the completed application. ST LC is Sof tware testing Lif e cycle and SDLC work closely together and are almost inseparable under some of the activities. However the stages are very dif f erent under sdlc and stlc.

8. What is SDLC.net ?
Ans. When a person is utilizes the Dot Net library or Framework to create an application application, the process is termed SDLC.Net.

9. What are f unct ional requirement s?

Ans. Functional requirement is a document which contains what a certain system has to do to achieve a certain specif ic objective.T his task is carried out during the preliminary stage of SDLC.

10. What are Non-f unct ional requirement s?

Ans. Without Non-f unctional, a sof tware will never f unction or will have vital missing inf ormation in its output. Response time, security, reliability, accuracy, capacity and availability are examples of Non f unctional requirement f or a sof tware development process. Non f unctional requirements decides how the Program or the sof tware will f unction in f uture.

11. What is Sof t ware Lif e Cycle?

Ans. Sof tware lif e cycle comprise the total lif e of the sof tware developed right f rom the time of initial development to the time it is scrapped out or terminated. T his includes the development phases, revisions and upgrades and if necessary adding it up with another sof tware project as well.

12. Is it mandat ory t o implement SDLC met hods while developing any t ype of sof t ware project ?
Ans. T his is a tricky question and must be tackled smartly. Yes you can sure implement SDLC approaches f or every type of sof tware you want to develop. But it is not a cost ef f ective solution f or smaller projects. For every kind of sof tware development needs dif f erent approach and solution and must not be considered to be developed under mandatory SDLC guidelines.

13. Are SDLC and STLC t wo dif f erent aspect s of sof t ware development process?
Ans. No they are not dif f erent aspects of the development process. Rather they are closely related to each other and it is totally impossible f or them to individually exist. If there is no sof tware development process there cannot be a sof tware testing phase and no sof tware development process can be completed without testing the developed sof tware.

14. Wat erf all model is not suit able f or?

Ans. Some of the suitable situations f or using a Waterf all model are 1. T he sof tware Project is limited to the development of a mainf rame-based/transaction-oriented batch system. 2. T he Complete Project is very large, costly and too much complicated. 3. T he project objectives and solutions are clear. 4. T here is no time f rame pressure f or quick project deployment. 5. T he Project has stable and def inite requirement which need not change in the f uture. 6. T he project group (including project leader) is not very experienced.

15. What are some possible problems wit h wat erf all model?
Ans. Some of the most common problems one might f ace while working with waterf all model are Waterf all model is not suitable f or multiple module projects. It does not support the f easibility of considering requirement specif ications. It requires too much time to complete each stage. T here can be a f ew bugs at the end which cannot be rectif ied as well.

16. What is t he dif f erence bet ween Increment al model and Spiral model?
Ans. T here is not much dif f erence between these two sdlc models. Sdlc spiral Model includes the iterative nature of the prototyping model and the linear nature of the waterf all model. T his approach is ideal f or developing sof tware that is revealed in various versions.

17. What is advanced sdlc wat erf all met hodology?

Ans. Any sof tware development model that f ollows the basic linear f low of the waterf all model but has been modif ied to complete specif ic project types are called advanced sdlc methodology. Such models do not have name or either can be standardized to allow sof tware developer to use them around other sdlc projects. Some sdlc interviewer however might claim Agile to be one of such models but it is not entirely true.

18. Give some pract ical real lif e examples of Spiral Model
Ans. T he most popular real lif e examples f or sdlc Spiral model are Microsof t Windows operating System, Visual Studio Manager, Adobe Photoshop, WordPress CMS and many more.

19. Why is Agile so popular?

Agile methodology is way too advanced and complex than the simple Waterf all model. T he f easibility of agile to reshape the entire development structure to suit the most ef f ective outcome is what makes Agile the number 1 choice of developers today.

20. Can I build a sof t ware project wit hout sdlc models?
Ans. Of course. T here is no hard and f ast requirements f or a developer to implement any sdlc model f or developing a sof tware project. T he ability to simplif y project into modules and ascertain correct progression f or completion is the only reason f or which sdlc models and methodology was designed in the f irst place. You can sure work without them but the challenges will be more and there wont be any specif ic process to organize your work as a whole.
