To determine if you should update the software, refer to the Version Information section. Installing Windows XP Note: Your computer supports Windows XP Service Pack 2 or later version. You must install Intel Matrix Storage Manager Driver before installing the operating system. To install it, you need to attach a diskette drive to your computer. Prepare a diskette drive and follow the procedure below. Before installing the operating system, install Intel Matrix Storage Manager Driver, as follows: Note: Be sure to install Intel Matrix Storage Manager Driver before installing the operating system. Otherwise your computer will not respond; it will only display a blue screen. 1. Attach a diskette drive to your computer. 2. Execute the downloaded Intel Matrix Storage Manager Driver package 6ai112ww.exe to unzip the driver file to C:\DRIVERS\WIN\IMSM. Copy all the files to the diskette. Then insert this diskette in the diskette drive. 3. To make sure that SATA AHCI is enabled, start the BIOS Setup Utility menu. Turn off your computer, then turn it on again. When the logo screen is displayed, press the F1 key. The BIOS Setup Utility opens. 4. Select Config. 5. Select Serial ATA (SATA). 6. Select AHCI under SATA Controller Mode Option. 7. Change the startup sequence of your computer so that the CD-ROM drive starts first. In the BIOS Setup Utility menu select Startup --> Boot. Set the "CD/DVD drive" to 1st Boot Device, and then set the "Hard Drive" to 2nd Boot Device. 8. Press F10 to save configuration changes and exit setup, and then press OK. 9. Insert the CD for Windows XP integrated with Service Pack 2 or later version into the CD or DVD drive, and restart the computer. When the message "Press any key to boot from CD" is displayed, press any key. 10. When the message "Press F6 if you need to install a third-party SCSI or RAID driver" is displayed, press F6 key. 11. When prompted, select S for Specify Additional Device. 12. Scroll the list of drivers to select Intel ICH9M-E/M SATA AHCI Controller, and press Enter. 13. Follow the instructions on the screen to finish Windows XP installation. 14. Follow the Manual Install instruction below to finish the driver installation for Windowx XP.

Manual Install 1. Start Windows XP and logon with administrative privileges. 2. Double-click the driver package to extract it to your hard drive. The default location is C:\DRIVERS\WIN\IMSM\6AI112WW. 3. Click Finish to exit setup and start driver installation. 4. Follow the instructions on the screen. 5. Click Finish and reboot the system to complete the installation. Unattended Install Note: This is for system administrators' use only. 1. Start Windows XP and logon with administrative privileges. 2. Double-click the driver package to extract it to your hard drive. The default location is C:\DRIVERS\WIN\IMSM\6AI112WW. 3. Uncheck 'Install "Intel(R) SATA controller AHCI driver for Windows XP" now'. 4. Click Finish to exit setup. 5. Click Start, then click Run... 6. Specify 2KSETUP.EXE 2KSETUP.INI with the full path name where you extracted the package in the step 2, and click OK. Example: C:\DRIVERS\WIN\IMSM\6AI112WW\2KSETUP.EXE 2KSETUP.INI 7. Follow the instructions on the screen. 8.
