ROLE TITLE: GRADE:

English and Mathematics Functional Skills Lecturer Salary: 18,053 - 34,640 pro rata (Subject to Job Evaluation)

KEY TASKS: To work within the Skills for Life team teaching English and maths across a range of sites and vocational areas. To take responsibility for the delivery of teaching theoretical aspects of the curriculum. To help co-ordinate, develop and deliver an active cross-college English/maths programme with work-based learners. Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES: To teach all aspects of Functional Skills and English and maths on a variety of apprenticeship courses. To be actively involved in the further development of English and maths courses in consultation with team members, the Curriculum Leads, taking responsibility for the leadership of a designated cluster of courses as agreed. To develop and share practical approaches to the teaching of English and maths. To contribute to the development and production of a wide range of student centred learning materials. To develop, deliver, assess and verify relevant elements of Functional Skills. To maintain and improve the English and maths learning environment. To help co-ordinate team activities including full implementation of the cross-college quality framework. To contribute towards the effective marketing and publicity of course team, programme area and College activities. To secure and ensure the internal and external validation of courses. To attend course team and programme area meetings and maintain course files. To prepare and maintain appropriate curriculum planning materials and tracking documents to support teaching and learning. To contribute to the recruitment, enrolment and assessment of students in conjunction with Student Services. To provide adequate pastoral and tutorial support for students in line with College policies. To participate in advice, guidance and enrolment activities.
