4) THEORY Ohms Law states that the current through a conductor between two points is directly proportional to the potential difference across the two points.Introducing the constant of proportionality,the resistance,one arrives at the usual mathematical equation that describes this relationship.

Where I is the current through the conductor in units of amperes,V is the potential difference measured across the conductor in units of volts,and R is the resistance of the conductor in units ohms.More specifically,Ohms Law states that the R in this relation is constant,independent of the current.

Voltage is the force which cause current to flow.Therefore,the higher the voltage,the higher current will be.Conversely,the lower the voltage,the lower the current will be.This assumed that the resistance remains constant.However,the current is also determined by the resistance.Resistance is the opposition to current flow.Assuming that the voltage is constant,the higher the

resistance,and the lower the current will be.Also,the lower the resistance,the higher the current will be.

It is found that the current flow is proportional to the voltage drop across a fixed resistance.The constant of proportionality is the value of resistance.

V I

These facts can be summarized by a single formula;

Where V is in volts,I is in amperes and R is in Ohm.This formula is known as Ohms Law.The graph of voltage against current gives a straight line and the gradient is the resistance value.

5) PROCEDURES Pre-Lab: a) Refer to the table 1 and 2,fill in the blank and show with the calculation approval. Plot the graph for voltage drop against current for table 1 and 2 in figure 2.4 and 2.5.

Laboratory Experiment: a) Construct the circuit. b) Switch on the DC power supply.Slowly adjust the voltage regulator until the voltage drop across the resistor reads 2V. c) Record the ammeter reading and fill in Table 1. d) Increase the voltage drop across the resistor to 4V.Record the ammeter reading in Table 1. e) Repeat procedure (d) for voltage drop to 6V and 8V across the resistor.Record the ammeter reading. f) Repeat procedure for resistor of 2200 and 4700. g) Record all the ammeter readings for various resistor in table 3 and 4. h) Plot a graph in same figure with Pre Lab section,for voltage drop against current for table 3 and 4 and examine the result.

7) RESULT/DATA ANALYSIS Know the basic measurement laboratory equipments and know about the relationship between current and,voltage and resistance.To verify Ohms Law and know the different between series circuit and parallel circuit.

8) DISCUSSION I. Define voltage,symbol and unit. The potential different between two points in a circuit. Symbol: V Unit: Volt(V).

II. Define current,symbol and unit. The movement of the electric charge cause by free electrons movement.If flows from the positive terminal to the negative terminal. Symbol: I Unit: Ampere(A)

III. Refer to figure 14 and 15,what the relationship between current and voltage? Current is electrical charge moving through something,to higher the current,voltage is the pressure and the current

will double because it is being pushed through twice as hard.

IV.

State the cause of error may be occur in you experiment and how to improve accuracy in experiment result. Make sure the positive terminal and negative terminal in the right position because that can make error reading in the ammeter and voltmeter. Make sure that the equipment experiment in good condition to get result.

V.

Conclusion. Know about the relationship between current,voltage and resistance.To verify Ohms Law,know the different between series circuit and parallel circuit and know definition voltage.Voltage is the pressure being put on the current to move through something while the current is electrical charge moving through something and how to find value of resistance.
