Dear Scholarship Committee, I would like to start by thanking you for the opportunity to submit my application for DAAD

Scholarship. My name is Antonia-Valentina Clain and I am applying for a master program in Germany. I write my letter of introduction in order to present three main points why I consider I should be awarded the scholarship. First, the DAAD will enable me to achieve performance in the field of engineering as a student. My previous study path reveals my continuous growth and my commitment to develop my knowledge and skills by following formal and informal education programs. As a student of University Politehnica of Bucharest, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Engineering and Management Department, I have obtained really good academic results in all the previous years. My desire to develop my knowledge in various fields has determined me to complete my university courses with informal education. During my student period I have participated to trainings and conferences that helped me develop my communication, my presentation skills and my teamwork spirit (Soft Skills Academy ; Neuro-Linguistic programming). As an Erasmus student in Portugal I have learned how to adapt to multicultural environments and understand different cultures. Volunteer work has also been an activity that I like to include in my life. During University I served as a volunteer and organizer for various youth events, and also for some educational projects. At the Researchers Night project I had the opportunity to show my technical skills by being responsible for experiments during the Scientific Workshops. Having the opportunity to work with the technical knowledge that I learnt gives me a strong sense of accomplishment. Second, the DAAD Scholarship that will allow me to pursue master program will improve considerably my career prospects. I think that the master program is a stepping stone for my engineering career as it will help me set a management engineering company in Romania after graduating. The company will offer support to businesses in the engineering field. I think that the German education system together with the great technological development from Germany is a critical factor for the success in this field. I believe that the knowledge and skills I already possess together with the ones achieved by attending the Master program represent the best mix for a successful career further. Third, DAAD Scholarship will allow me to complete my studies at a German University l while delivering the highest level of performance. Due to my current position as a student in the last year of undergraduate studies, in a struggling market economy, I believe the scholarship to be essential for completing my studies because it will provide me with the necessary funds for covering the necessary costs. I hope that by sharing my activities and goals, I have been able to give you a glimpse into the person I am and what I hope to achieve. I have included what I have felt to be the most significant influences on my career choice. I expect that postgraduate school to continue to be a journey which I embark upon with great enthusiasm.
