Oracle-EBS

EBS means E-Business Suite. Suite is a collection of applications. The divisions in oracle EBS are:1 . Financials. 2. Manufacturing. 3. Projects. 4. CRM 5. Human Resources. Oracle financials also called as i-flex solutions limited.It is an IT solution provider to the banking industry. It has 5 modules: 1. Payable 2. General ledger 3. Receivables 4. Assets 5. Cash Management. The roles that are present in the oracle EBS are: 1. Oracle apps DBA for Installation of software at customer site. 2. Functional Consultants creates functional design document(FDD) for technical consultant in which requirement gathering, business analysis are present. 3. Technical Consultants for coding. Mostly work is done using Forms & Reports for that we are having form builders, report builders.

Conversion:
Conversion is a term used when an existing ERP is to be changed to Oracle EBS for the first time. When this process is used the existing database is matched with the Oracle database then it is loaded into the database. When the existing database is not compatible i.e Non Oracle DB , then we use three steps to load data. They are 1. Extraction: Pulling the data from Non oracle DB in to files. 2. Validation: The data that is extracted from the database is validated to know whether there exists any duplicate values or erroneous data is checked here in this stage. 3. Transformation: If the data extracted is not compatible with the database then it is transformed as per needs. 4. Loading: The validated and transformed data is loaded into the new database.

Interface or Integration:
This phase is same as conversion but the only difference is conversion is done only once whereas integration is an ongoing process. It has more validations & security than conversions. Ex: If a person in India owns a bank and uses Oracle EBS for his financial services and if he wishes to take over a branch somewhere else where other than EBS is used and if he wants to access the data from the existing branch then he has to use Integration.

Forms: These are used as an UI in EBS and we can customize, personalize & maintain .The
disadvantage of using forms is reports generated are limited. For this we are form builder tool.

Reports: Data generated from the Oracle DB is in the form of reports. Reports are unlimited
and we use report builder tool for building reports.

RICE :
While implementing the Oracle E-business Suite, the features that are not addressed by out-ofthe-box applications, need to be customized and tailored to suit your requirements. The requirements may mandate the development of Reports, Interface, Conversions and Extensions (RICE).
