For months it sat on the shelf while its director reflected on the thin line that divides success and failure.(2)In a career that began with old-fashioned cameras and silent movie stars and ended with his blockbuster thrillers of the 1950s and 1960s, Hitchcock tasted success and failure in fairly equal measure. His subject matter generated controversy and his style alternately baffled and thrilled audiences and critics alike.
