Content Objective (CO): Our goal is to talk about the family members. Language Objectives (LO): Listening : We will listen to identify in the members of the family in the total group using the THUMB CHALLENGE activity. Speaking: We will ask and respond about personal information of our family members in pairs by the use of the INTERVIEW activity Reading : We will read individually the instruction to work with the task from the book. Writing : We will individually write and draw about our family members.

Key Vocabulary: Grandmother Grandfather uncle aunt sister brother parents relatives cousin to have this children grandchildren who Stepfather, stepmother, etc. Brother-in-law, sister-in-law, etc.

** Materials Needed: Book Cards Markers Board Pieces of paper Pencil Pen Pictures

Activation: A Canvas of Opportunity (Informing Instruction) Directions:


I will present to students the content and language objectives of the lesson on the board. Teacher will show information about his/her family members. 2 minutes

For example: My mothers name is Emma. My father is Asdrubal. I have two brothers.

Teacher will apply the DOTS Chart activity. 5 minutes Students will think and write some family members names. 4 minutes

Students will get in pairs and practice with the names of their family members. 4 minutes Each student will present his/her peer family members to the entire class. 5miutes Total time: 20 minutes Connections: The Broad & Narrow Strokes of Learning (Interaction, Application, & Accommodation)

Directions: Teacher show the vocabulary to the classroom on the board. 5 minutes Students will individually work with the page 43 on the book. 5 minutes Students in small groups of 4 will use the thumb challenge activity to write and practice the vocabulary about the family members. 10 minutes After that, students will walk around and ask and answer for personal information about their family members at least 5 classmates. 5 minutes Total time: 25 minutes

Individually, students will work the task in page 100, Unit 5 from the book. 8 minutes Students in small groups will work on the board with the FLY game. 7 minutes Students draw their family trees. 10 minutes Total time: 25 minutes
