Majask World History - 1A 12 November 2013 What is Wrong with the World's Energy System today? The world has a very complex and sophisticated energy system. Energy can be produced in many different ways such as tidal, wind, nuclear, hydroelectric, solar, and geothermal energy. This energy is used to power many things that we could not imagine the world without. It is used to power the process of making food, household appliances, and vehicles that we use to travel places. Urbanization and economical development are also some of the benefits of all the energy we have in the world today, but there is also some downsides to the energy that we hold. One downside to the world's energy system is that many countries are have trouble upgrading their energy system to the global standard. Countries around the world are trying to find ways to conserve energy and to also come up with alternative sources of energy. They are working on making energy more cheaper, more efficient, and more friendly to the environment. Another downside to the world's energy system is that fossil fuels in nature have been used as one of the primary sources of energy even as they slowly reach their depletion, and they are a nonrenewable source of energy. These nonrenewable resources cannot be replenished, and after these sources are depleted it will affect the economy of many countries rashly and it will be hard for people to find other alternative resources of energy. Some of these fossil fuels are petroleum, coal, and other natural gases.

Noble 2 Finally, environmental changes and destruction is another downsides that the world's energy system brings. Carbon emissions that fossil fuels release have an impact on the climate patterns in an area. Countries are working toward lowering their carbon emissions, in order to have a lesser impact on the climate. Partially because the use of these fossil fuels, global warming has also become a huge issue that we have right now. Global warming destroys many habitats in nature which eventually kill many animals. In conclusion, there are some benefits that we all receive from the world's energy system but there are also some non-beneficial factors to this system. Although the flaws, countries will still continue to expand and strengthen the world's energy system to make the world a better place for us.
