UNIVERSAL KITS FOR CELLULAR PRODUCT LINK PL421 GENERAL AND GENERATOR SET-SPECIFIC INSTALLATIONS
Caterpillar is introducing universal field installation kits for cellular Product Link in an effort to simplify the dealer kit ordering process. The new universal PL421 kits satisfy installations on both current and noncurrent equipment as well as Product Link ready and non Product Link ready assets. Two unique kits are available to support general installations of the PL421 on machines and other types of assets, as well as installations specific to generator sets. The PL421 is the first Product Link hardware offering targeted at generator sets through deep integration with the Cat EMCP 3, EMCP 4 and ADEM controllers. Common hardware to both kits includes the following: Cellular Radio + ECM + internal cellular antenna in one Product Link module External GPS antenna with attached 4 meter coaxial cable Mounting hardware

In addition to the common hardware, the basic PL421 kit also includes a cut to length, unterminated 3 meter unshielded power harness that can be spliced directly into the equipment. In addition, the basic kit contains a 12-pin Deutsch receptacle that can be used to terminate the harness for Product Link ready installations. The PL421 kit for generator sets contains the common hardware and a cut to length, unterminated 2 meter power harness with UL rating and 1 meter of shielded CAN.

Cellular Product Link Features The PL421 cellular systems provide basic asset monitoring capability for 12v and 24v applications through hours and location reporting, as well as geographic fencing and maintenance management features. For assets with electronically controlled systems and a communication link that adheres to the SAE J1939 public network standard, the PL421 offers the ability to monitor health and utilization data, where available. For generator sets, PL421 integration with Cat EMCP 3, EMCP 4 and ADEM controllers enables monitoring of advanced health, utilization and engine status information. The PL421 is ruggedized to support installation in harsh environments and is designed for monitoring both Cat and other OEM equipment. The PL421 supports off-board data transmission via 2G GSM cellular networks. Reference the chart below for more details on Product Link functionality enabled by the PL421. PL421 Data Transmission

Ordering Information Universal field installation kits for cellular Product Link are available via dealer direct ship to ADSD (North and South) dealers and as kit to stock for EAME, APD and Brazil from select Regional Distribution Centers. Orders should be placed through Caterpillar Parts Distribution using the ANTARESSM Parts Ordering or DBS/DBSi systems. Dealer Direct Ship (DDS) - The system will show no on hand inventory for DDS, rather the dealer will place the order and receive an Order Acknowledgement of the Estimated Ship Date (ESD) and a sourced from code (9P48). To inquire on DDS orders, call the DDS hotline 1-800-566-7782, Option 4. Kit to Stock (EAME, APD and Brazil only) - Areas where Kit to Stock is utilized will show onhand inventory. If no stock is on-hand, the order will be received and will generate demand in the system. Significant Future Events (SFE) orders are recommended for planned installs with order quantities greater than 20 units.

Supporting Information Country Certification for Cellular Product Link - The PL421 contains a cellular radio device which requires in-country approval to operate in each country.
