Objectives
At the end of the course the students would be able to gain knowledge on the techniques of the making measurements in site surveying
Synopsis
This course will cover the practice of the distance measurement and leveling, preparation of site map, earthwork computation, construction surveying, route surveying and others that are considered necessary.

Assessment
40% Continuous Assessment (Assignments, Group Work, Presentation, Quizes)
Geomatics Engineering
In general: a discipline that encompasses all method for gathering and processing information about the physical earth and the environment. Geo represents geography the art and science of developing and interpreting graphical representations of the earth. Matics is drawn from either mathematics or information, indicating that geomatics employs a technical approach in developing information about earth features. Geomatics in three-dimensional measurement, mapping and visualization and is one of the fastest growing IT sectors in the world
Surveying
Surveying: Science and art of determining relative positions of points above, on or beneath the surface of the earth or establishing such points. The measurement, definition and portraying, either digitally or graphically in the form of maps or plans, of the physical features of, and the structures on the earths surface.
Cartography
The art or technique of making maps, plans, charts accurately and precisely and representing three dimension on variety of media in either two or three dimensions
Photogrammetry
Science or art of obtaining reliable measurements or information from photographs normally from aircraft.
Remote Sensing
The collection of information about an object or event without being in physical contact with the object or even. Remote sensing is restricted to methods that record the electromagnetic radiation reflected or radiated from object
Geodesy
The science of determining the size of the earth and the precise location of points on its surface
GIS
An organized collection of computer hardware, software, geographic data, and personnel designed to efficiently capture, store, update, manipulate, analyze, and display all forms of the geographically referenced information
GNSS/GPS
A satellite-based global navigation and positioning system
After construction;
Post construction monitoring Deformation survey to check for movement or settlement of the construction.
