(PADI). THE SOFTWARE, Open Water Diver Course Prescriptive Lesson Guides, AND ACCOMPANYING ITEMS ARE PROVIDED TO YOU ONLY UPON THE CONDITION THAT YOU AGREE TO THE TERMS OF THIS AGREEMENT. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE TO THE TERMS OF THIS AGREEMENT AND DO NOT WANT YOUR ACT OF USING THE SOFTWARE PROGRAM (PROGRAM) TO CONSTITUTE ACCEPTANCE OF THE TERMS OF THIS AGREEMENT, PROMPTLY RETURN THE PROGRAM TOGETHER WITH ALL ACCOMPANYING ITEMS (PROGRAM PACKAGE) TO PADI/PADI DIVE CENTER/RESORT/INSTRUCTOR (MEMBERS) WHERE THE PRODUCT PACKAGE WAS PURCHASED FOR A FULL REFUND. LIMITED USE LICENSE. This Program is owned by PADI. This is a license, not a sale, and PADI retains full and complete title to the Program and all copies of the Program regardless of the media or form on which the original disc(s) or other copies may exist, including copies made in violation of the terms of this License. The Program and associated documentation is protected by United States copyright laws and international treaties. PADI grants you the right to use one copy of the Program for your personal use only. All rights including derivative rights not expressly granted are reserved by PADI. This agreement, aside from the law of copyright, is governed by the laws of the State of California. You agree that the computer Program includes trade secrets belonging to PADI. Possession and use of this program shall be strictly in accordance with this license agreement and receipt or possession does not convey any rights to divulge, reproduce or allow others to use this computer Program without specific written authorization from PADI. YOU MAY: Either (a) make one copy of the Program solely for backup or archival purposes provided that you reproduce all information (including copyright notices) that appear on the original disc(s), or (b) transfer the Program to a single hard disk, provided that you keep the original disc(s) solely for backup or archival purposes. You may transfer your rights under this License to another party on a permanent basis, provided you transfer the Program and the accompanying materials, retaining no copies. The transferees use of the Program constitutes acceptance of the terms of this License. YOU MAY NOT: Use the Program on more than one computer, computer terminal or workstation at the same time.

 Make copies of the Program Package, including the materials accompanying the Program, or make copies of the Program, except as provided above. Use the Program as a network or other multi-user arrangement or on an electronic bulletin board system or other remote access arrangement. Violations of this article shall include, but are not limited to, uses on Local Area Networks (LAN), Browsers and Internet Websites. Rent, lease, license or otherwise transfer the Program Package without the express written consent of PADI except that you may transfer the complete Program Package on a permanent basis as provided above. Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble or create derivative works of the Program. Use the backup disc(s) on another computer or loan, rent, lease or transfer the disc(s) to another user except as part of the permanent transfer of the entire Program Package. LIMITED WARRANTY. PADI warrants, to the original buyer only, that the media upon which the Program is recorded shall be free from defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and service for a period of thirty (30) days from the date of purchase. Any implied warranty on any Program is limited to thirty (30) days. Some states do not allow limitations on the duration of an implied warranty, so the above limitation may not apply to you. EXCLUSIVE REMEDY. PADIs entire liability and your exclusive remedy shall be at PADIs option, either (a) the repair or replacement of the Program that does not meet PADIs Limited Warranty and which will be returned to you; or (b) a refund of the price, if any, that you paid for the Program and associated materials, as substantiated by proof of purchase. TO MAKE A WARRANTY CLAIM, PLEASE RETURN THE ENTIRE PROGRAM PACKAGE, TOGETHER WITH YOUR PROOF OF PURCHASE TO PADI/PADI DIVE CENTER/RESORT/INSTRUCTOR WHERE THE PRODUCT PACKAGE WAS PURCHASED, DURING THE WARRANTY PERIOD. This Limited Warranty is void if the failure of the media upon which the Program is recorded has resulted from accident, abuse or misapplication. Any replacement Program will be warranted for the remainder of the original warranty period or thirty (30) days, which ever is longer. NO OTHER WARRANTIES. Getting Started
Minimum System Requirements PC - Pentium 200-MHz or higher processor/ Windows 98SE or later Macintosh - PowerPC 200-MHz or higher processor/ OS 8.6 or later/ PowerPoint 98 or later 64 MB RAM/ 700 MB of available hard-disk space for installation (support programs and media have additional storage requirements) Quad speed or faster CD-ROM drive 800x600, 16 bit color display Mouse or compatible pointing device Sound output with speakers Additional items or services required to use certain features: MicrosoftPowerPoint 97 or higher for Windows and PowerPoint 98 or higher for Macintosh Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 browser software or later Windows Software Requirements If you dont have a version of Microsoft PowerPoint installed on your computer (PowerPoint 97 or higher), you must install the PowerPoint Viewer included on this CD-ROM. Open the Support Files folder and double click on the Install PPView97.exe file icon. Macintosh Software Requirements You must have a version of Microsoft PowerPoint 98 or higher installed on your computer. Microsoft provides a Macintosh viewer for PowerPoint at http://www. microsoft.com/mac/download. PADI will not provide technical support for the Open Water Prescriptive Lesson Guides when used with this viewer at this time.

Install
Windows Setup Insert Disc 1 into your CD-ROM drive. If it doesnt automatically begin the installation process select Settings from Start Menu, Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, Add New Programs, Add from CD and follow onscreen instructions. Once Setup is complete, the Open Water Diver Course Prescriptive Lesson Guides Presentation Files are accessible from the Start Menu. Files with editing capability are accessible from Edit More Info Slides. Additional media files are located on Disc 2 and if installed are usually accessible from the installation directory (typically C:\More Info Movie Browser\ PADI\OW Prescriptive Lesson Guides). Macintosh Setup Insert Disc 1 into your CD-ROM drive. If it doesnt automatically open a window, double-click the disc icon to open it. Copy the Open Water Prescriptive Lesson Guides to the Applications folder on your hard drive. Consult your operating system user guide to make an alias for your desktop or Apple Menu. Open the copied folder and double click on the Open Water Prescriptive Lesson Guides. Whats on Disc 2? All the video clips necessary to support the Open Water Diver Course Prescriptive Lesson Guides are included on Disc 1 and have already been installed on your hard drive. Disc 2 contains additional video clips for you to customize your presentations. You must have Microsoft PowerPoint 97 or higher for a PC and PowerPoint 98 or higher for a Macintosh to customize presentations. The video clips on Disc 2 support continuing education, equipment counseling, dive travel, environmental awareness and include further information on dive theory. Since this disc contains large files, you can simply insert the disc every time you want to customize a presentation. A Video Browser is included for you to preview the video clips. Double click on the Video Browser to open it. Click on the links in the Video Browser to view the associated video. The video will appear in a new window keeping the Video Browser window open. The Video Browser gives you all the information youll need about each video clip: the name (i.e., Oceanwatch.mpe), type of video (i.e., Project AWARE), duration (i.e., 1:56) and description (i.e., Oceanwatch Protect the Living Reef). All you need to do is copy the video clip(s) you need to customize your presentation to your hard drive. If you install the Video Browser and video clips, be aware they take an additional 650 MB of hard-disk space. To install Disc 2 follow the directions for installing Disc 1.

Uninstall
To uninstall the Open Water Diver Course Prescriptive Lesson Guides from your hard-disk: Windows Uninstall From the Start Menu select Start, Settings, Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, then select PADI Open Water Prescriptive Lesson Guides from the scroll list. Then click on the Change or Remove Programs button. Macintosh Uninstall Drag the PADI Open Water Prescriptive Lesson Guides Folder to the trash. If youve added Apple Menu aliases remove them by double clicking your system drive, opening the System Folder, then opening the Apple Menu Items Folder, then dragging the aliases to the trash.

Tips and Suggestions

Turn off your screensaver or any energy saving devices on your computer for better performance. Consult your computers user manual for directions. Dont run other programs while showing the Open Water Prescriptive Lesson Guides. Windows 98, 2000 and XP offer a power management Presentation Mode that keeps the screen and hard drive running during a presentation. For better performance on Macintosh systems, or if youre having problems with distorted displays or missing pictures, increase the memory allocated to PowerPoint 98 Viewer or PowerPoint. To do this, click on the PowerPoint icon, then go to the File Menu, select Get Info, and then click on Memory. Increase the preferred memory to exceed the suggested memory size. To navigate through the Open Water Prescriptive Lesson Guides, use the navigation buttons provided. Simply clicking the mouse or pressing the space bar may not link you to where you want to be in the Product. Pause after each selection to allow time for slide animation (bulleted text, animated illustrations, pictures and video clips) before navigating to the next slide. All video clips will automatically play for you; dont click the video box as this takes you to the next slide without viewing the video clip. Since it takes time to present a slide (watch a video clip) you will need to activate your cursor to navigate to the next slide. Vigorously move your mouse around on the screen until you can see it and then click on the desired navigation button for your next slide. Table (Metric and Imperial) and Wheel (Metric and Imperial) Prescriptive Lesson Guides for Knowledge Review questions and for Quiz 4 and 5 Version A and B questions are available by selecting the desired navigation button (i.e., Prescriptive Table or Prescriptive Wheel).

Using the Software Product

Please review the system requirements and ensure your system meets these requirements before installing and using the PADI Open Water Diver Course Prescriptive Lesson Guides. Save time in the classroom by knowing how to use this teaching tool effectively spend some time learning where the navigation buttons take you and what content is presented. Whether you choose View by Section or View by Focus, use the Safety Concepts Review to review safety information every scuba diver needs to understand to dive safely. These safety concepts are the same safety concepts identified in the students manual by the caution symbol. For each section you can show the Safety Concepts Review before reviewing the Knowledge Review or before going over Quiz A and B or before looking at the Confined Water Dive Preview. You can also use the Safety Concepts Review at the end of each section as a final overview. Be sure to have your Open Water Diver Course Instructor Guide available for reference. Turn to the Appendix section of the Instructor Guide to the Knowledge Review Answer Keys (pages A7-A16). The Knowledge Review Answer Keys provide you with the outline and sequence of content to be presented in the Knowledge Review area of the Prescriptive Lesson Guides. You may use the Appended Knowledge Review Answer Keys to quickly determine which concepts students need to review, or you may use the question menus provided in the Knowledge Review area of the product to easily navigate to one, two or through the entire set of questions. The prescriptive button on the Knowledge Review slides links to a remedial review of concepts student divers missed when completing their Knowledge Reviews in their manuals. Some of the questions have a More Info button linking to relevant information on continuing education, dive travel, equipment counseling, environmental issues and more on relevant dive theory. The Knowledge Review and Quiz A and B provides you with prescriptive lesson guides for both The Wheel and the Table. Use your giant wheel and/or table to augment your presentation. Remember: To use the navigation buttons provided to navigate through the Open Water Prescriptive Lesson Guides. Simply clicking the mouse or pressing the space bar will not necessarily link you to where you want to be. All video clips will automatically play for you; dont click the video box as this takes you to the next slide without viewing the video clip. Launching the Prescriptive Lesson Guides

After launching the Prescriptive Lesson Guides, youll need to select View by Section or View by Focus. View by Section is viewing Sections 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5. View by Focus is viewing just the Knowledge Review area or just the Confined Water Dive Preview area for the entire course. View by Section Select which section of the course you want to review with your student divers. Each section includes a Safety Concepts Review, Knowledge Review, Quiz A, Quiz B and Confined Water Dive Preview. You choose what area you want to review with students. The Safety Concepts Review reviews the safety concepts all divers need to understand to scuba dive safely; the same safety concepts identified in student manuals. The Knowledge Review area contains the questions from the PADI Open Water Diver Manual and the correct answers. Its easy to focus your time on the questions student divers missed during self study by navigating directly to the missed question via the Knowledge Review Question Menu. [The Knowledge Reviews, Quizzes and Confined Water Dive Preview areas all have menus like this one - so its easy to review a specific question, watch a prescriptive video or preview a specific confined water dive skill with a few mouse clicks.] Access the prescriptive material by selecting the Prescriptive button. The Prescriptive button links to an explanation of the correct answer for the question. Prescriptive content is provided via different media. Once the prescriptive information is presented, select the Return to Question button for a final review of the question and correct answer before continuing to the next missed question. Some Knowledge Review questions also have a More Info button which leads to a more detailed explanation or to added information about continuing education, equipment counseling, dive travel or environmental awareness.

Quiz A and Quiz B of the product are set up similar to the Knowledge Review questions. In the Confined Water Skills Preview you may choose to go over every skill in sequence. This may be useful if its been a while since student divers watched the video or if you need to have an extended classroom session. Or, you may choose to look at just one skill or a few skills. Perhaps you need to discuss specific techniques for the local environment or for student divers with special needs. View by Focus Select a focus you want to review with your students. There are five focus areas Safety Concepts Review, Knowledge Review, Quiz A, Quiz B and Confined Water Skills Preview. This allows you to look at one focus for the entire course, which is helpful if you need to review points in the classroom, particularly if student divers did not (or could not) complete independently study before class. It can also be used prescriptively if student divers have specific questions. Or, it can serve as a structured review when extended or more traditional class sessions are required (i.e., in a university scuba program setting. If you select View by Focus you can use the PADI Open Water Diver Course Prescriptive Lesson Guides to supplement other courses. For example, reviewing the Confined Water Skills Preview focus from Dive One through Dive Five to augment your Divemaster course. Reviewing the entire Safety Concepts Review focus to supplement a Scuba Review and to help upgrade a Junior Scuba Diver to an Open Water Diver. There are many possibilities explore the product and see what works best for you and what meets the needs of your customers.

Customizing Your Own Slides

You can customize the Knowledge Review Presentation to suit your local needs, and customers. Simply access the file with editing capabilities from Edit More Info Slides. Open the file and go to the last slide in the slide deck and follow the instructions: Insert your New Slide after this slide, at the end of this presentation. Insert localized information, pictures or video on your new slide. Paste the More Info button onto the Knowledge Review slide you want to link your new slide to. Use the More Info buttons Action Settings to hyperlink the Knowledge Review slide to your custom slide.

Select hyperlink to other PPT presentation, select MIVideo (this is the More Info slide deck you added your custom slide to), then select your custom slide number. When the custom slide is finished, the Return to Question button exits your custom slide and returns you to the Knowledge Review slide you came from. Please consult the Microsoft PowerPoint help documentation for further assistance and information. Additional media files are located on Disc 2 and if installed are usually accessible from the installation directory (typically (Windows) C:\More Info Movie Browser\PADI\OW Prescriptive Lesson Guides). How to Make Your Prescriptive Lesson Guides Display on a Television

To make a computer image along with your PADI videos display on a television, youll need: A computer (PC or Macintosh). PADI Open Water Diver Course Prescriptive Lesson Guides CD-ROM. A signal converter a device available at computer stores that converts VGA/RGB computer signals to television (NTSC, PAL or S-Video) signals. Devices typically come with all necessary cables and most can work with both a PC or Macintosh computer. Some computers come with a video output connector built in. Please verify that this output will display the videos as some will not due to their hardware configuration. Video A-B switch allows you to instantly select between two (or more) independent video sources. Power strip with at least three or more outlets. You may also need extension power cords depending on your classroom setup. Extension RCA phono cable to reach from signal converter to television(s). Do you want to display your computer image on more than one television in your classroom? If so, youll also need a video distribution amplifier and more RCA cables.
