    SCENE 1: NEW YORK
    STORYTELLER: In New York Mr Fogg, Passepartout, Mrs Aouda, and Mr Fix speak
    to the captain of a small ship, the Henrietta.
    PHILEAS FOGG, in his top hat, is talking to the CAPTAIN of the Henrietta. MRS AOUDA,
    PASSEPARTOUT and MR FIX are with him.
    PHILEAS FOGG: Hello, Captain! Wheres your ship going?
    CAPTAIN: To France.
    MRS AOUDA: Can you take us with you?
    PASSEPARTOUT: But we want to go to Eng
    PHILEAS FOGG: Shhh! Be quiet, Passepartout. (He speaks quietly in PASSEPARTOUTs ear.)
    PASSEPARTOUT: Oh, I see. Right, Mr Fogg!
    MR FIX: (to the AUDIENCE) Why does Fogg want to go to France? Ive got papers to arrest
    him in England! (He takes out the warrant and looks at it, then puts it back.)
    CAPTAIN: Of course I can take the four of you to France. But its expensive.
    PHILEAS FOGG: Thats OK. Ive got lots of money. Here. (He gives money to the CAPTAIN.)
    CAPTAIN: Come on then. Were leaving soon.
    SCENE 2: ON THE HENRIETTA
    STORYTELLER: So they go onto the Henrietta. The captain takes everybody to their rooms.
    CAPTAIN: Come this way, everybody!
    The CAPTAIN takes PHILEAS FOGG, MRS AOUDA, PASSEPARTOUT and MR FIX off left.
    STORYTELLER: That night Mr Fogg listens to the sailors on the Henrietta.
    The TWO SAILORS enter, talking. PHILEAS FOGG enters, listening.

    STORYTELLER
    PHILEAS FOGG, an English gentleman
    THE CAPTAIN OF THE HENRIETTA
    MRS AOUDA, an Indian princess
    PASSEPARTOUT, Phileas Foggs French servant
    MR FIX, an English detective
    1st SAILOR ON THE HENRIETTA
    2nd SAILOR ON THE HENRIETTA

    1st SAILOR: I dont like the captain very much. Do you?
    2nd SAILOR: No, I dont. We work a lot, but he never gives us any money.
    PHILEAS FOGG: Excuse me! Ive got lots of money. Do you want some?
    1st SAILOR: Yes, please!
    2nd SAILOR: But what must we do for it?
    PHILEAS FOGG speaks quietly in 2nd SAILORs ear.
    2nd SAILOR: Oh, yes. We can do that easily.
    1st SAILOR: Whats that?
    2nd SAILOR speaks quietly in 1st SAILORs ear.
    1st SAILOR: Right. Of course we can.
    PHILEAS FOGG: Good!
    STORYTELLER: So Fogg gives money to the sailors. (FOGG gives money to the SAILORS,
    then exits.) And the sailors go and speak to the captain.
    Enter CAPTAIN.
    CAPTAIN: Hello, men! What are you doing?
    1st SAILOR: (taking the CAPTAINs right arm) Waiting for you.
    CAPTAIN: Waiting for me? Why?
    2nd SAILOR: (taking the CAPTAINs left arm) We want to take you to your room. Here it is,
    Captain. In you go. (He pushes the CAPTAIN off right.)
    CAPTAIN: (offstage) Help!
    1st SAILOR: Im locking the door. You cant get out now!
    CAPTAIN: (offstage) Oh no! But why?
    2nd SAILOR: Because Mr Fogg wants to go to England, and weve got lots of money from
    him to take the Henrietta there!
    Enter PHILEAS FOGG, followed by PASSEPARTOUT, MRS AOUDA, and MR FIX.
    PHILEAS FOGG: Nice work, men. Now, lets take this ship to Liverpool and fast!
    PASSEPARTOUT: Good old Mr Fogg!
    MRS AOUDA: What a quick thinker!
    MR FIX: (to the AUDIENCE) Wonderful! Were going to England! I can arrest Mr Fogg,
    the gentleman thief, when we arrive!
