Oral Radiography ORAD868

Course Introduction: Knowledge of radiography is essential to understanding the dangers inherent in the use of Xrays. Radiographs are used in helping the dentist to make diagnoses. ORAD868 is a study of radiation and safety theories. It will include fundamental concepts of dental radiography and familiarize you with the techniques of positioning the patient, the tubehead and film as well as exposing and processing dental radiographs. This course will cover exposure of intra-oral radiographs, quality assurance, radiographic interpretation, patient selection criteria and digital radiographic techniques. It also will include the safe and effective use of ionizing radiation as a diagnostic tool and methods to minimize risk of adverse biological effects to patients and clinician.
