About the cover:

Cover Image by Linda Clements taken at Bayfest 2009 The band All American Tragedy performing on the Launching Pad Stage
Below: Lead singer of Cage the Elephant, crowd surfing at Bayfest 09 at the Pepsi Stage Photo by Keith Necaise

Both this image and the cover photo, have visual impact that portrays the passion of the performance. Both could also be used in promotional ventures, which this shoot is, first and foremost. They both work well as "rock and roll" photos. The All American Tragedy image on the cover is clean but expressive. The Cage the Elephant shot above is more visually chaotic which, in itself, tells the story of what it was like at that moment, in that place. ~Catt Sirten Bayfest Lead Photographer

The anatomy of a concert photo

Editorial by Catt Sirten

Once you know what youre looking for, anticipate it. If youve noticed that a guitarist bends a certain way during emotional moments in his solos, anticipate it, compose for it, and be ready when the moment comes. If a singer leans away from the mic a certain way during soulful pauses between song lines, pre-visualise your shot, get set up for it, and execute it when the elements come together. Of course, you also have to be ready to react instantly to capture a spontaneous moment.

We dont meet until next week, but I wonder if anyone has any further input on a night time meeting... If we can get together the third Wednesday of November. Mastro - mm@michaelmastro.com A Camera South member would like to purchase Lenses for a Nikon EF Camera - If you have any equipment for sale please let us know

I am looking for a buyer. I have a wonderful Tamron 2875mm f/2.8 XR Di LD Aspherical (IF) Autofocus Lens for Nikon SLRs for sale. It is in perfect condition. I bought it in 3/15/09 to use until the Nikkor 24-70 became available. It is that good, probably the best substitute for the Nikkor 24-70. This lens has become my favorite in the mid range telephoto category. The 24-70 is now available so I will be buying that lens. I am asking $350.00 and I will pay any shipping fee. This lens currently sells at B&H for $420 plus shipping. My reason for selling this lens is simple, I am moving into all professional Nikkor lenses. -- Charles - chaswes5@gmail.com Camera South Membership dues: Family Single Student $30.00 $25.00
