AP Art History Museum Fall 2013

Eleventh grade students will come to the library for an instructional time that will be presented by the Media Staff and their teacher. The instruction will cover Art History and the different decades they were produced. The instruction will include approved online resources (websites ending in edu. or org.), online databases, and print materials. Using the information gathered during this lesson, the students will make a presentation that reflects one of the decades and may choose for extra credit to visit a Savannah art exhibit that is portraying one of the paintings we are using in the lesson. Students will be exposed to different technology tools such as a Prezi, SlideRocket and a QR code reader.

Final Product Students will be required to create a presentation about two pieces of art that they choose that were painted in the same decade. They can also receive extra credit by attending the Art exhibit in Savannah. The students will also be exposed to QR code readers. and will learn to use them in several different ways. Library Lessons The students will enter the Media Center and are told to walk around room to view all art work. The students will then sit at tables, be given a handout and will watch the SlideRocket presentation. The teacher will then ask the group to divide into groups and give each student a search and find sheet. Students will spend a little time working on the handout. Then all the students will return to their seats and the SLMS will show them the QR code reader and tell them about this tool. Then the SLMS will tell them about the ticket which is the extra credit (either museum visit and/or design a ceiling tile). The SLMS also gives them the info on the Prezi that will be worked on during library time next week. Students return to the Media Center and work on their Prezi. Then each student will have time to work on their project with the SLMS and the teachers help. Students will be asked to complete an assessment/survey of the instructor, materials and projects. Assessment Product: The teachers, SLMS, and students will use the checkbric designed by the instructor (attachment #1) to assess the information that the students may use to complete their Prezi. Students will use the web and the Picturing America web site to locate material needed to complete the Prezi. Information packets that include the SlideRocket presentation will be given to each student for use when creating the project. Process:
