INTRODUCTION

A final year project report should include all the necessary sections, targeting at a reader who does not necessarily have any prior knowledge about the project. It should have a logical flow with strong explanation to convince the reader on the conclusions of the report. It should be well written and should provide easy understanding. Excessive technical jargon and slang should be avoided.

To ensure the report is easy to read with consistent format, it is important that students follow strictly the instruction during report preparation. nly the reports according to the above format will be considered and graded. INTRODUCTION

)tudents intending to submit their !"# report should comply with the following procedures&

2.1

)ubmission of soft cover report % copy on*before due date. The soft cover copy should consist of +,-%,, pages and bound black soft binding.

)ubmission of hard cover final report . copies to the university /% for library, % for department and % for internal0 and softcopy of final report /% copy in $1*121 that includes the code and all necessary information including software and relevant data sheet0.

LENGTH OF REPORT

!inal year project report must not exceed %,, pages including the appendices. Total number of pages for all relevant data sheets must not be more than %+ pages.

COVER AND BINDING

It is very important that students strictly follow the standard format for the front cover of the !"# report. TEXT, FONT SIZE AND SPACING

Text should be typed, double spaced, left-right justified on one side of the paper only. TIMES NEW ROMAN font, font si>e of %@ point should be used throughout the report /except for Appendices0, which includes Acknowledgement page, Abstract, Table of $ontent, 5ist of Table, 5ist of !igure and the main body of the text /which covers the main text, chapters, subtitles, headings, subheadings, figure captions, table captions, header and footers0.

)ingle spacing can be use for references, captions of figure, long tables, table titles, long Auotations, notes, footnotes, and multi-line caption.

PAGINATION All #age numbers are without punctuation placed % cm from 7ottom edge Every page except the title page must be numbered. Title page is CiD but is not numbered. #reliminary page are to be numbered in lower case 3oman numerals /ii, iii, iv etc0. The main text pages are to be numbered in Arabic numerals /%, @, .. etc0 and all pages must be numbered consecutively and continuously.

CORRECTIONS

$orrection of typing errors, or changes in the text, figures or tables, must be made as cleanly and invisibly as possible. $orrection fluid shall ( T be used. $orrections should be made on the original before recopying or reprinting the problem page.

FIGURE

!igures can be illustrations, graphs or anything other than tables, scripts and plates /photographs are regarded as plates0. All figures must be placed near to related discussion in text. The figure can be referred using the word !igure or !ig. and numbered in Arabic numeral e.g. !ig. %.%, !ig %.@, !igure @.% and so on.

NOTES AND FOOTNOTES

!ootnotes and notes are not encouraged and should be kept to a minimum. 6owever, if reAuired its font si>e must be smaller then general text.

USAGE OF COLOUR IN REPORT

The usage of colour in the reports should be minimised as much as possible. $olour should only be limited to parts where it is a crucial element of the project. )ome examples where colours should be avoided are 4raphs, Tables, and Texts.
