Thank you to all who participated in the survey last September. A total of 185 sheets were completed; with 24 respondents under the age of 20. From the responses, the majority wished to volunteer for the following activities: Working with Seniors / Driving Seniors to the 4:00 p.m. Mass Translation: French / Spanish / German/ Hungarian Fundraising / Maintenance / Automobile Repair Gardening / Landscaping / Decorating Baking / Food Preparation Data Entry / Accounting Exercise / Fitness First Aid / Photography Dance / Singing / Sewing Volunteers are vital to the life of any parish. St. Monicas parish is very fortunate to have so many dedicated volunteers, and we look forward to having you join this wonderful family of volunteers.

AN EVENING OF CAROLLING & CHRISTMAS SING-A-LONG


Would you like to spend an evening filled with joy and hope while singing your favorite Advent and Christmas carols? Would you like to share your favorite Christmas song with us? If so, you should not miss St. Monicas special evening of Carolling and Sing-A-Long on Sunday, December 15, from 5:00 9:00 p.m. The evening begins at 5:00 p.m. with carollers leaving St. Monicas church and walking through the neighbourhood in joyful song. Afterwards, hot dogs and hot chocolate will be served in the parish hall, culminating in an evening of community Christmas sing-a-long in the church. (Coffee, tea and cookies will be served) PLEASE MARK YOUR CALENDARS, INVITE YOUR FRIENDS & FAMILY, AND TOGETHER LET US SHARE CHRISTMAS JOY WITH ONE ANOTHER! Anyone wishing to sing or play an instrument should sign-up on the sheets at the back of the church or ask to speak with Odette. PLEASE NOTE: Donations of non-perishable food items will be collected on the night of the concert in order to help the food pantry remain stocked following the Christmas season. Thank you in advance for your generosity!

CHRISTMAS EVE CHILDRENS PAGEANT


Needed--Mary, Joseph, Wisemen, Innkeepers and Angels for our annual Christmas pageant taking place at the Christmas Eve Mass at 7:30 pm. Registration forms are available at the front entrance of the church and in the church hall. Please note the rehearsal dates. For further information, please contact Odette Quenneville or Jennie Parsons-Armstrong at the rectory.

ANNUAL TOY AND FOOD DRIVE


Just a reminder to all who chose an ornament (toy or food) from one of our Christmas trees in the church, to be sure to bring in your items no later than Sunday, December 15. For further information, please contact Jennie Armstrong at the rectory.

SKATE-A-THON FOR THE FOOD PANTRY


Thank you to all the children, parents and grandparents who came out to skate in support of our Food Pantry. To date, through your generous efforts, we have collected $1,500 for the Christmas baskets.

COFFEE AND CONVERSATION


Join us on Sunday, December 15 from 10:00 to 10:50 am in the rectory dining room for a special Christmas Session of Coffee and Conversation. We will view Dewitt Jones 20-minute inspirational video, Celebrate whats Right with the World. Please register by December 13. Free babysitting available upon request at registration. ADVENT PRAYER BOOKLETS AND CANDLES


The Advent prayer booklets and candles are still available for purchase at the cost of $1.00 or $2.00 for each booklet, and $5.00 for each set of candles. You will find these items at the main entrance of the church. Please put your payment in the Missalette and Newspaper Payment Box.

The Sunday Mass Books for 2014, beginning with the 1st Sunday of Advent, Dec. 1, are now on sale for $5 each. You can pick up your copy at the main entrance of the church. Please place your payment in the Missalette and Newspaper Payment Box.

"GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF PARISHIONERS


This Sunday, December 8, after the 11:00 a.m. Mass, there will be a general meeting of all parishioners for the purpose of electing two new churchwardens for a three-year term. Special thanks to Angela Onesi and George Wong, who are completing their mandates. Together with the pastor, the wardens form the Fabrique of St. Monicas Parish: as such, they serve as stewards of the churchs temporal and financial needs. If you live within the church boundaries (east side of Walkley to west side of Beaconsfield; from St. Jacques to south side of Cote St. Luc Rd.), please take the time to stay after the 11 oclock Mass and join us in the church at noon for the election.

NEW 2014 SUNDAY DONATION BOXES


This weekend, owners of Donation Boxes can now pick up their new box for 2014 at the main entrance. Be sure to pick up only the box that has your name and number on it. Those who wish to have a box, please fill out a request form for submission.

HATS, MITTS, GLOVES AND SCARVES!


Each year, we collect mitts, hats, scarves and gloves for Le Bon Dieu Dans La Rue. We invite you to place your gifts of these items under the Christmas tree at the front of the church near the tabernacle for donation. Thank you.
