INVITATION/UNDANGAN: RED NOSE 6TH ANNUAL COMMUNITY CIRCUS


Red Nose Foundation (Yayasan Hidung Merah) is a nonprofit organization working at the grass roots level, teaching circus arts and providing basic education to hundreds of children living in underprivileged circumstances in Jakarta. Yayasan Hidung Merah adalah oragnisasi sosial yang bekerja pada tingkat akar, mengajar seni khususnya sirkus dan menyediakan pendidikan dasar kepada ratusan anak yang hidup dalam keadaan kurang mampu di Jakarta. On November 10, 2013, every Red Nose student more than 200 children ranging from age seven to 18 will perform in front of an audience of hundreds at the 6th Annual Community Circus event in Cilincing. Pada tanggal 10 November 2013, seluruh murid Yayasan Hidung Merah lebih dari 200 anak usia mulai dari tujuh hingga 18 akan tampil di depan ratusan penonton pada acara tahunan yang ke enam yang disebut 6th Annual Community Circus di Cilincing. The production will showcase the circus skills dancing, clowning, juggling and acrobatics that Red Nose students learn as participants of the foundations Arts and Education Outreach program. Each class of students, including the Hidung Merah Performance Troupe, have choreographed their act in collaboration with the foundations circus teachers and artistic director. ! About the Red Nose Foundation

The Red Nose Foundation (Yayasan Hidung Merah) is a non-profit arts and education organization active in Jakarta, Indonesia. The Foundation works at the grass roots level and supports the development of children living in underprivileged circumstances through basic education and circus arts. The foundation, established in 2008 by Dan Roberts, has 190 children and teenagers participating in its flagship Arts and Education Outreach Program. Since 2012, the foundation is recognized as a member of the Cirque du Monde international social circus network run by the worlds most prestigious artistic entertainment company, Cirque du Soleil. The Red Nose Foundation, established in 2008, has five pillar programs: - The Arts and Education Outreach Program, the foundations flagship program with centers in Cilincing, North Jakarta and Bintaro Lama, South Jakarta; - The Hidung Merah Performance Troupe, made up of the most advanced RNF students; - The Sponsorship and Scholarship Program, connecting sponsors with individual children to help fund their education; - The School Renovation program, helping to rebuild public school facilities with the support of corporate sponsors; - The Red Nose Relief program, a performance group that travels to conflict or disaster-affected areas in Indonesia to provide emotional relief to children and families. The Red Nose Foundations five pillar programs reach thousands of people each year. Dan Roberts, Founder and Executive Director


Dan Roberts is the founder and Executive Director of the Red Nose Foundation. Dan moved to Jakarta, Indonesia, with his family from the United States as a teenager and was a student at the Jakarta International School. Upon returning to the U.S., Dan studied Acting at Roosevelt Universitys Chicago College of Performing Arts. After he discovered circus and physical theatre. Dan was inspired, and spent a number of years working for different youth circus groups. In 2008, Dan became a volunteer for Clowns Without Borders-USA and organized a 10-week solo circus expedition through Indonesia. During this expedition Dan made the decision to stay and establish the Red Nose Foundation. Since then, Dan has been the driving force behind the foundation.

Renny Antoni Roberts, Managing Director


As Managing Director, Renny works closely with the foundations Executive Director to determine the direction and the future of the foundation. Renny has been involved in social work since the age of 12, and over the years she has volunteered to help street kids in East Jakarta and teach basic literacy, math and English to children. Renny holds a Bachelor of Arts with a major in communication studies and public relations from The London School of Public Relations. In August 2009, Renny became a volunteer at the Red Nose Foundation, documenting the foundations activities. She finally joined the Red Nose Foundation as a Project Coordinator in March 2010 and became Red Nose's Managing Director in May 2011.

Dedi Purwadi, Associate Artistic Director


Dedi was the first person to join the Red Nose Foundation as a full time staff member. Dedi has been a fundamental part of the foundation ever since, and has helped develop and implement all of its programs, even performing with the Red Nose Relief tours across Indonesia. Today Dedi is RNFs Operations Manager, which means he ensures that all of the foundations activities and programs run smoothly. He is hands-on with classes and is involved in managing workshop activities, supporting the circus program and training with the Hidung Merah Performance Troupe.

About Social Circus


Circus is multidisciplinary and offers something for everyone regardless of experience, physical ability, age, culture, language, and socio-economic status. There are no limits to who can benefit from circus arts and social circus. Social circus uses physical arts to engage with at-risk youth and marginalized communities, but its effect and benefits stretch far beyond that and run deep into the field of personal development. Social circus teaches self-awareness, self-esteem, discipline, creativity, artistic talent, motor skills and physical fitness, teamwork and social skills. Ultimately, circus is a fun and versatile tool that contributes positively to an individual and communitys wellbeing and quality of life.
