Description
You are not logged in and Data retrieval error Errors Several minutes after starting a complex query, report, or chart in Analytics, an error messageYou are not logged in or Data retrieval erroris displayed. There are a two known causes of this problem. 1. On some end-user systems, a registry key has been set that specifies a timeout that limits how long the browser will wait to receive a response. If this timeout is specified and is too short to allow PROS Pricing Solution Suite to process the request, the error will occur. There are two possible places that this registry key may be specified: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\ Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings or HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\ Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings If both are specified, the value in HKEY_CURRENT_USER takes precedence. In either of these registry keys, a DWORD Value named ReceiveTimeout may specify the timeout in milliseconds. If this the case in your environment, PROS recommends changing the timeout value to a larger value, for example 1800000 (30 minutes) to avoid the timeout error. Another alternative is removing the registry setting to allow the default setting of one hour to take effect. See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/181050 for more information. (Note that although this Microsoft Knowledge Base article indicates that it does not apply to Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.x and 7.x, PROS has confirmed that it does apply.) 2. Another possible cause of this error is that your environment has configured a firewall or proxy that is monitoring communications between the enduser browser and the PPSS application server, and that firewall or proxy has a timeout specified that terminates the connection when a request is not processed within that timeout. If this is the case in your environment, you can change the firewall or proxy configuration to increase the timeout to 30 minutes or longer to avoid the timeout error.

DEV109352 Enable the User to Change a Version's Start and End Execution
Dates If the end date of a deal is earlier than the current date, the user is unable to update the deal. The current rules for updating the dates of a deal prevent the user from changing the start and end dates of the deal. To avoid this limitation, the user should select an end date for a deal that will safely cover the negotiation period. The user can complete negotiation, and then change the end date to the current deal end date.
DEV109354 Copying a Deal with Different Start and End Dates Does Execution
Not Affect the Copied Line Items Dates When a deal is copied, the dates of the copied line items remain unchanged; those dates are not changed to the dates of the set for the new deal. To change these dates, the user must open the deal, and then change the dates of each line item to the dates of the new deal. Note: The strategies selected for each line item on the copied deal may not be valid for the new date range. Because of this, when the dates for the line item are changed, a price may not be calculated for this line item.

Internet Explorer 6.0 SP1 terminates when accessing the application menu or context bar. There is a known bug related to the 918899 Windows update patch. This patch was included in updates released on or after August 8, 2006. More information on the patch can be found at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/918899 Please perform one of the following options: (Recommended) Install the most current cumulative security update for Internet Explorer 6, dated November 2006 or later. For example, the 922760 cumulative security update released in November 2006 corrects the issue. Information about how to obtain and install this update can be found at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/922760 Note: Restart the system after installing the update. or Install the 923996 update patch. This update fixes the specific problem in the 918899 update patch. Perform the following steps to remove the Microsoft Windows update patch: 1. From the Control Panel, click Add or Remove Programs. 2. The Add or Remove Programs pop-up window is displayed. 3. There is an inconsistency between the benchmark values in the Analytics waterfall chart and the table. Clicking the Help icon on the Alert definition screen causes an error to display. In some instances, Flash charts that are operating correctly stop unexpectedly on a users machine. The current resolution is to clear cache and cookies in Internet Explorer. To Upgrade an Existing Installation for Microsoft Windows
All commands are run from the Command Prompt window. You can open the window by selecting Start => Run and typing cmd in the text box.
A. Get the Build File from the PROS FTP Site

Use this procedure to download files for the new release. 1. Log on to the site sftp.prosrm.com with the user name and password provided by PROS. 2. Change to the Releases\PPSS directory. 3. Download the pricing_3_7_5.tar.gz file in binary mode. 4. Transfer the compressed file to the target server.

B. Identify the Currently Installed Product Version

Important: To install this release of the PROS application, the currently installed version should be 3.7.2 and above. To verify the currently installed version of PROS Pricing Solution Suite, contact your PROS representative.
C. Stop the PROS Application

For a single-host configuration, the following procedure must be performed. 1. Change to the bin directory. cd <PPSS_installation_directory>\build\bin 2. Stop the application. prosctl stopall For a multi-host configuration, the following procedure must be performed: 1. To stop the application, enter the following command on the master host: prosctl stopall 2. To stop the PROS Pricing Solution Suite launcher components on each worker host, enter stopPROSLauncherAgent.bat 3. To run the following script on the master host, enter stopPROSLauncherAgentMaster.bat
D. Back Up the Previous Version

Before beginning the installation, create a backup of the previous version. 1. Back up your database.

Create an installation directory, copy the compressed file to the current directory, and extract the product files. 1. Create a current installation directory for PROS Pricing Solution Suite. The application will be installed in this directory. If the installation directory is <PPSS_installation_directory>, for example, type mkdir <PPSS_installation_directory> 2. Change to the <PPSS_installation_directory> directory. cd <PPSS_installation_directory> 3. Copy the PPSS_<environment>_<release_number> compressed file to the installation directory for the application. copy <download_directory>\pricing_3_7_5.tar.gz <PPSS_ installation_directory> . 4. The application files are compressed to reduce download time. Please use appropriate software such as WinZip to decompress the file, and then place the files into the <PPSS_installation_directory> that you created.
F. Configure the Application Files

If you modified files after installation with PROS, those files may need to be copied into the current installation directory or merged with the current installation files to preserve the configuration for your environment. If you are unsure about how to proceed, contact your PROS representative. The following procedure copies these files from the back-up installation to your current installation directory:

G. Installation with the Application Generation Utility

This section is for users of the application generation utility only. The build directory is the installation directory. Important: Changes to the solution configuration file (SCF) beyond those described in this documentor as described in the installation and maintenance guide for the productare not supported. 1. Copy the SCF to the <PPSS_installation_directory>\scf folder. For example: copy <download_directory>\<your_config_file>.xml . 2. Edit the pdk.properties file in the C:\Documents and Settings\<user_name> folder. Review the Configuration Changes section for new or changed parameters. See the PROS Pricing Solution Suite Installation and Maintenance Guide for details about the parameters. Note: Verify that Java 1.5.0_11 is defined in the environmental variable at the beginning. 3. From the Command Prompt window, change to the PROS Pricing Solution Suite installation directory. cd <PPSS_installation_directory> 4. Run the configure.bat <scf_location> command. For example: configure.bat scf\<your_config_file>.xml 5. Monitor the configure.log file for errors.
10. To Upgrade an Existing Installation for UNIX

All of the commands are run from the command prompt.

Note: Verify that the paths in pros.dtd are updated and point to the current directory.
G. Installation with the Application Generation Utility

This section is for users of the application generation utility only. The build directory is the installation directory. Important: Changes to the solution configuration file (SCF) beyond those described in this documentor as described in cross-referenced documents are not supported.
1. Copy the SCF to the <PPSS_installation_directory>/scf folder. For example: cp <download_directory>/<your_config_file>.xml . 2. Edit the pdk.properties file in $HOME/pdk.properties. Review the Configuration Changes section for new or changed parameters. See the PROS Pricing Solution Suite Installation and Maintenance Guide for details about the parameters. 3. From the Command Prompt window, change to the PROS Pricing Solution Suite installation directory. cd <PPSS_installation_directory> 4. Run the configure.sh <scf_location> command. For example: ./configure.sh scf/<your_config_file>.xml 5. Monitor the configure.log file for errors.
11. Database Configuration

The following section contains procedures for creating the database data source, updating the database schema, and updating existing data for version 3.7.5 of the application. For internationalization support for Oracle, please see the PROS Pricing Solution Suite Installation and Maintenance Guide. To upgrade the database schema and data, your implementation must be at version 3.7.2 or later.
A. Create the Data Source

Note: For a multi-host configuration, this procedure must be performed on the master host and each of the worker hosts. For Windows Enter the following: cd <PPSS_installation_directory>\build\bin env.bat

For SQL Server To create the SQL Server data source file, run the following command: createSqlServerDS.bat PDK_DS You will be prompted for the user name and password of the database for the application.
For Oracle To create the Oracle data source file, run the following command: createOracleDS.bat PDK_DS You will be prompted for the user name and password of the database for the application.
For UNIX Enter the following: cd <PPSS_installation_directory>/build/bin

B. Set the PROS Application in Update Mode

E. Load User Security

This procedure applies to both Pricing Analytics and Pricing Execution. If the Configurable Privileges feature for Analytics is enabled, the following steps must be performed to apply any privilege-related changes to your application configuration since the last installation or upgrade:
For Windows, perform the following steps: 1. Change to the bin directory. cd <PPSS_installation_directory>\build\bin 2. Run the LoadSecurity task. runTask.bat LoadSecurity 3. Review the following log files to monitor the progress of the task and to check for any possible errors. Errors must be reviewed and corrected before continuing with the installation process. prosservices_serverX_log.xml runPROSServices-X.txt runTaskManager-1.txt taskmanager_server1_log.txt

F. Set PROS Application to Normal Mode

Now that the upgrade is complete, the PROS application should be stopped at this point so that the application can be returned to normal mode. Follow the instructions in Stop the PROS Application for stopping the application. After stopping the application, set the patchmode parameter to false. This action ensures that scheduled hourly tasks will resume after the application is restarted.
For Windows, perform the following: Edit the <PPSS_installation_directory>\build\config\pros.dtd file and set the patchmode parameter to false. Enter <!ENTITY patchmode "false">

12. Start the PROS Application

Note: Instructions for starting the application as a Windows service can be found in the PROS Pricing Solution Suite Installation and Maintenance Guide. Choose from the following options according to your configuration: For a single-host configuration, the following procedure must be performed.
For Windows, enter 1. Change to the bin directory. cd <PPSS_installation_directory>\build\bin 2. Start the application. prosctl start

13. Create a Shortcut on the Desktop

(Optional) To create a shortcut on the desktop, perform the following procedure: 1. Log on to the machine where you access the user interface, and then open a Web browser. 2. In the address field, enter http://<server_name>:<tomcat_port_number>/PPSS/PPSS where <server_name> is the application server name or IP address and <tomcat_port_number> is the port number configured in Configure the Application Files. 3. Drag and drop the URL from the Web browser to the desktop. A shortcut for the application appears on the desktop. To access the application login screen, double-click the desktop shortcut.

14. Uninstall
Use the following procedure to uninstall this product and to revert to the previously installed version: 1. Stop the application as described in Stop the PROS Application. 2. Restore the database and the list of files using the backup files, as described in Back Up the Previous Version. 3. Back up the previous version to the original location. 4. Start the application, as described in Start the PROS Application.
