OCEANIC CHECKLIST

Flight Planning Check available NATs, if applicable (Transatlantic flights); Select available random routes, if applicable; Check current NOTAMs for: DEST, ORGN, Enroute FIRs; Plot flying route on an enroute chart (If flying on NATs plot adjacent tracks); Plot Equal Time Points (ETP); Note possible NAVaids to check accuracy prior to coast out; Note TMI number. Pre-Flight Aircraft Maintenance Log Check (NAV, COM, Surveillance and RVSM issues); Compare FMC FPL with ICAO/IVAO FPL - Check routing, fuel load, Enroute Climbs, EET; Check Aircraft current UTC time; Dual Long Range Navigation System (LRNS) fully operating for remote oceanic ops. RVSM: o Check Altimeters (Cannot differ by more than 200ft); o Enroute Weather Forecast Winds aloft, turbulence zone. Confirm with Present Position Coordinates (POS INIT FMC Page) Best source/Gate coordinates. LRNS programming: o Check AIRAC and Software Versions o Check expanded coordinates of waypoints o Route distance check (+ 2 and +2NM of contingency) o Upload winds into the FMC, if applicalable. HF and SELCAL check; Groundspeed check; Check IVAO ATIS and Online ATC Positions. Taxi Current Position check on several sources IRS 1 2 3, GPS, etc; Groundspeed check.

Climb Passing TA (Transition Altitude) set QNH 1013hPa/29.92in/STBY; Check ETAs for above FL180; Prior to Oceanic Entry HF check (SELCAL Check); Login on CPDLC or ADS 15 to 45 minutes prior to entry FIX, if equipped Check Flight Levels Availability and Maximum Flight Level; Obtain Oceanic Clearance from appropriate clearance delivery: o Confirm and Maintain cleared Flight Level at Oceanic Entry Fix; o Confirm Flight Level, Mach (speed) and Route for Crossing; o Advice ATC WAH When Able Higher flight level; o Check Aircraft performance capabilities for maintaining assigned altitude and Mach speed; Reclearance, if applicable: o Update LRNS (e.g.FMC), CFP and Enroute Plotted Chart; o Check Tracks and distances for new route; Check Altimeters (Cannot differ by more than 200ft) If yes: <Callsign, RVSM Unable due to equip> Compass heading check;

After Oceanic Entry Maintain Assigned Mach and Altitude; VHF Radios set to interplane (123.45Mhz) and Guard (121.500Mhz) frequencies; Squawk 2000 30 minutes after entry FIX, If applicable; Strategic Lateral Offset Procedure (SLOP) SOP; Hourly Altimeter Checks; Check TCAS mode TA/RA; Monitor EETs. Approaching WAYPOINTS Confirm EETs (Contingency of +/- 3 min); Confirm next Latitude/longitude.

Vertical with WAYPOINTS Check Next waypoint; Confirm time to next waypoint (May not differ by 3 min requires revised estimating message to ATC; Check Current Winds, Fuel, Temperature (Fuel and SAT) Position Report . Coast In Compare ground based NAVAID to LRNS; Remove SLOP; Compare ground NAVaids to LRNS; Confirm Routing after oceanic exit; Check squawk 2000 if applicable.

Leaving Oceanic Confirm if OPT Flight level and Mach; Switch off HF box com; Contact appropriate CTA. Descent Transition Level Set Altimeters to current QNH; Anti-ice - Engines and Wing; Arrival / Block In Navigation accuracy check; Reports write up: o Maintenance; o RVSM; o MNPS.

Miscellaneous In flight Contingencies: o 15NM Offset SLOPs 30NM in the NAT, 25NM in the Pacific; o Published Weather Deviation Procedure; o Emergency Procedures (121.500Mhz, 123.450Mhz): Mayday, Mayday, Mayday SWR XX on Track X Emergency Descent; Attention all A/C at XX NM W/E of XXX; Emergency Descent i/p from FLXXX; Leaving Track X left/right to the N/S. ETOPS; Weather Destination /Alternates ( METAR, TAF); Data Link Contingency Procedures; DR Dead Reckoning; GPS RAIM/FDE Requirements.
