Exploratory Test Session – 7 for WireMaster v0.

46

Test Mission: To find the information of which (might) trouble and seems like a problem to
the user while using WireMaster v0.46.

Model under Test: WireMaster v0.46 | http://sourceforge.net/projects/wiremaster/

Tester: Ravisuriya
Session-ID: 15thAug2009-s7
Test Machine: Windows XP SP3 | English US
Start Test Date and Time: 19th August 2009 9:10 AM.
End Test Date and Time: 19th August 2009 10:30 AM.

Observations or Information:
----------------------------------

1. The components can be inserted or placed over menu too. Below picture shows how it
appears when the components are placed in the diagramming area and on the menu.

Picture – 1a

Picture – 1b: Wireframe diagram for picture – 1a.

2. The non-numeric, decimal and negative values are accepted by ‘x’, ‘y’, ‘height’ and
‘width’ fields of Component Properties dialog. No warning or error messaged displayed to the
user entering such values.

3. If user enters the ‘x’ and ’y’ value beyond the visible resolution or limit of screen being
used or viewed, appears like the corresponding component will be lost for ever. No undo or
redo is available to get back the component. If the user enters unknowing or accidentally such
values, then how to get component back?

4. Appears like ‘Remove Selection Component’ is not functional. Trying to delete the
component in the diagramming area by dragging ‘Remove Selection Component’ over the
component that needs to be deleted, the component will not get deleted. Tester used ‘Delete’
button of keyboard as alternative to delete the components.

5. When no component added to diagramming area, moving the mouse over the ‘Remove
Selection Component’ in the toolbar which appears as disabled icon. Dragging it to the
diagramming area, it is visible though no components are available in diagramming area.

6. ‘Remove Selection Component’ appeared as like staying in the diagramming area as the
other component that can be dragged and dropped.

>> When trying to dragging the other components into the diagramming area, the ‘Remove
Selection Component’ will no more available with other components. It disappears.

7. If ‘Remove Selection Component’ is for removing the selected component which was
added in the diagramming area by dragging it down, should the caption be ‘Remove Selected
Component’? The phrase ‘Remove Selection Component’ can be confusing.

8. Clicking on button ‘x’ in the title bar of dialog ‘Save Changes’ that appears while closing
model under test without saving the wireframe diagram, the window of model under test will
get closed. Clicking on button “Yes” in ‘Save Changes’ dialog will show ‘Save’ dialog. Clicking
on button “Cancel” or “x” button in dialog ‘Save’ will close the model under test. Or pressing
key ‘Esc’ in keyboard while ‘Save Changes’ or ‘Save’ dialog is displayed, will close the model
under test. Should the ‘x’ button act as ‘No’ button or should it act as canceling the save
operation and to keep the window of model under test opened?

9. The dialog ‘Save Changes’ does not have the name of model.

>> Save changes of what? Dialog ‘Save Changes’ is displayed by which being used model?

10. No shortcut key support for buttons ‘Yes’ and ‘No’ in the ‘Save Changes’ dialog. In dialog
‘Save’ button ‘Save’ had shortcut key but button ‘Cancel’ did not have the shortcut key.

11. The time taken to display the ‘Save’ dialog on clicking button ‘Yes’ in the “Save As”
dialog will vary. The observed time during testing varied from 2 seconds to 11 seconds. During
the testing of model under test, no other activity was done in the machine that was used for
testing by the tester. The time taken to display ‘Save’ dialog did show same behavior, even on
doing other operations with other models along with using model under test.

12. Brought up an instance of model under test. Observed the Component Properties dialog
displayed ‘normal’ by default with disabled combo for field “border”. Drag and dropped one
component, say Container. Observed the fields of Component Properties dialog – label, font
size, x, y, width and height – all displayed their respective value. But the border combo did not
show any value. Clicked on the container that was dragged and dropped. Observed the outer
area of container appeared to have red-in-color as its outer area color. In the combo selected
the ‘normal’. Clicked on container. Observed the combo – it displayed nothing. Selected ‘none’
in combo. Clicked on the container – saw no red color border. The value in the combo will not
be retained on clicking the component dragged.

>> To be tested how the other component behaves for the actions done as said above.

resizing it. The text field ‘email (optional):’ will not be visible in its full length, if it the dialog is
resized as in below picture. Submit Feedback dialog can have the shapes as below seen.
