Early Inspection for a Goods Receipt

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Purpose
When you process an inspection during production for a production order or process order, you can also carry out an early inspection for a goods receipt. This variant for processing an inspection lot allows you to: Carry out goods receipt (GR) inspections for the completed production goods before they are posted to the warehouse stock Manage the completed production quantities in inspection stock Post the stocks out of inspection stock by means of usage decisions

When the system releases a production order or process order, it can also create an inspection lot for a GR from production (lot origin 04), in addition to the inspection lot for a production inspection (lot origin 03). You can then use these inspection lots according to your needs: Inspection lot for a production inspection (lot origin 03) You can use this inspection lot to carry out an inspection during production using the inspection specifications contained in the routing or recipe. With this lot, you can process inspection points and confirm activities for the order. You cannot manage stocks with this lot and the lot is not required if you want to process an early inspection for a goods receipt. Inspection lot for GR from production (lot origin 04) The system creates this inspection lot early (that is, when an order is released, but before a goods receipt is posted from production). You can use this lot to inspect the completed production goods before the stocks are released to the warehouse stock in a goods receipt posting. With this inspection lot, you can also use inspection plans and sampling schemes for production inspections.

Prerequisites
To create an early inspection lot for a GR from production (lot origin 04) when a production or process order is released, the indicator Control inspection lot creation must be set to Y for the inspection type assigned to inspection lot origin 04 in the material master for the material to be inspected ( Quality management view).

Process Flow
1. A process order is released (for example, to produce 1000 liters of paint). When the order is released, the system creates inspection lots with the lot origins 03 and 04. 2. You use the inspection lot with lot origin 03 to inspect an initial quantity of 250 liters. 3. You transfer the partial quantity of 250 liters to warehouse stock in a goods receipt posting. The system posts this quantity to the previously stock-free inspection lot with lot origin 04. This inspection lot now has an actual stock quantity of 250 liters. 4. You now have the following options for processing this inspection lot further: Case 1: You make a usage decision with an acceptance. Case 2: You make a usage decision with a rejection. Case 3: You do not make a usage decision and the stock remains in the inspection lot. Case 4: You do not make a usage decision, but you make a stock posting (for example, 100 liters to unrestricted-use stock). 5. You produce a second partial quantity of 400 liters of paint for the order and post this quantity to warehouse stock. Depending on how you processed the first partial quantity of 250 liters in step 4, the system reacts as follows: Case 1: Because of the acceptance that was made with the first usage decision, the system posts this and all subsequent partial quantities for the process order to unrestricted-use stock. Case 2: Because of the rejection that was made with the first usage decision, the system creates a new inspection lot with lot origin 04 and posts the quantity of 400 liters to this new, stock-free lot. Case 3: Since a usage decision was not made for the first partial quantity, the first inspection lot with an actual quantity of 250 liters receives another stock entry of 400 liters. The actual stock quantity of this first inspection lot is now 650 liters. Case 4: Since a usage decision was not made for the first partial quantity, but 100 liters were nevertheless posted to unrestricted-use stock, the first inspection lot with an actual quantity of 150 liters receives another stock entry of 400 liters. The actual stock quantity of this first inspection lot is now 550 liters. 6. You can finish producing the remaining quantity of the process order and post these partial quantities as described in steps 4 and 5.

Early Inspection for a Goods Receipt

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------When you process an early inspection for a goods receipt using an inspection lot with lot origin 04, be sure to note the following points: o If a new batch is posted to warehouse stock for the order, the system automatically creates a new inspection lot with lot origin 04 for the processing of this batch. If you make a goods receipt posting to a new storage location, the system also creates a new inspection lot with lot origin 04. If you cancel the inspection lot with lot origin 04 during the first usage decision, the system creates a new inspection lot with lot origin 04 for the next goods receipt.
