1. SCOPE OF WORKS 1.1 Ge)e!al 7nder this Section of the Contract the Contractor will #e responsi#le for the design and construction of all ci"il engineering and #uilding wor3s and ser"ices. The Tender 'ust co"er all re6uire'ents of the tender docu'ents and an0 other ite's not specificall0 'entioned #ut which are necessar0 for the satisfactor0 design, construction, operation and 'aintenance of all e6uip'ent to the satisfaction of C+,-.T. .o additional costs will #e considered for an0 ite's which ha"e #een o"erloo3ed #ut which are essential for the proper co'pletion of the proDect in e"er0 respect. Co)+itio)s4 D!a2i)gs4 S#1e+ule o/ Rates The General Conditions, Tender Drawings and Schedule of ates shall #e read in conDunction with this Specification. &atters descri#ed in one are not necessaril0 repeated in the others. The Tender drawings show general la0outs, architectural features and facilities to #e pro"ided. The drawings indicate the scope of the wor3s and tenders 'ust co'pl0 with this, 'ini'u' re6uire'ent, howe"er roo' si>es o! ot1e! /a#ilities 'a0 #e increased if re6uired to suit design and practical criteria, e6uip'ent and fittings #eing offered as -e! lo#al aut1o!it, !egulatio)s?!e7ui!e0e)t. The Tenderer shall "isit the site in co$ordination with C+,-.T and consider in his offer for cutting, filling or an0 other ground wor3 re6uired for 'aintaining appropriate finished ground? surfacing le"els in relation to the near#0 roads?#uildings and as per Du#ai &unicipalit0Is regulations regarding le"els. 1.! Ci.il Su6"Co)t!a#to! The Contractor 'a0 e'plo0 a Ci"il Su#$Contractor or use a co'petent speciali>ed section of his own organi>ation to carr0 out the Ci"il wor3s. The Su#$Contractor proposed #0 the Contractor shall #e su#Dect to the appro"al of C+,-.T.

,f the Contractor intends to su#$contract the ci"il engineering and #uilding wor3s design and?or construction, his tender 'ust include full details of co'para#le wor3s carried out elsewhere #0 the su#$contractor, together with details of the financial sta#ilit0 and general efficienc0 of the su#$contractor proposed. The Contractor shall su#'it details of all 3e0 personnel to #e e'plo0ed on the ProDect including positions held and curriculu' "itae. 1.% (et1o+ State0e)t
*t the co''ence'ent of the Contract the Contractor shall pro"ide a detailed 'ethod state'ent. This shall include a progra''e gi"ing full details of #oth t0pe and 6uantit0 of all the plant he proposes to use and the order of carr0ing out the wor3. 1.) Assista)#e to CLIENT The Contractor shall pro"ide and 'aintain upon the site to #e a"aila#le for use #0 C+,-.T, sa/et, e7ui-0e)ts i)#lu+i)g PPE /o! su-e!.iso!, sta//4 all sur"e0ing instru'ents and testing e6uip'ent re6uired for setting out and 'easuring the wor3s and for controlling and testing the 6ualit0 of 'aterials and wor3'anship.

Re#o!+s The Contractor shall 3eep at the site accurate and up to date records and drawings of the wor3s, and shall pro"ide C+,-.T with copies of these records /ile+ as -e! t1e ISO 9::; <::: !e7ui!e0e)ts. *t the end of e"er0 wee3 the Contractor shall su#'it to C+,-.T returns of la#our, plant and 'aterials e'plo0ed on the site during that wee3. *t the conclusion of the wor3s, the Contractor shall suppl0 reproduci#le copies of all drawings, showing full details of the wor3s as constructed, including location of drains, ser"ices, foundations, roads, etc.

DESCRIPTION OF THE WORKS 2.1 Ge)e!al This section descri#es in greater detail the scope of the ci"il and #uilding wor3s and sets out an0 special features, which are to #e incorporated into the ContractorIs design. The re6uire'ents for 6ualit0 of 'aterials and wor3'anship are to #e found later in this Section of this Specification. The design shall generall0 co'pl0 with 1S codes and lo#al aut1o!it, !e7ui!e0e)ts o! an0 others, which 'a0 #e rele"ant. Si'ilarl0, all 'aterials, construction and tests shall co'pl0 with applica#le codes and standards. Latest .e!sio) o/ all S #o+es o! ot1e! sta)+a!+s4 s-e#i/ie+ s1all 6e /ollo2e+. Due attention shall #e paid in the design to all aspects including internal and e5ternal appearance, ther'al and acoustic insulation, dura#ilit0 of 'aterials, resistance to 'oisture, structural sta#ilit0, fire resistance allied to 'eans of escape in case of fire, "entilation and pu#lic health re6uire'ents. The Specification Drawings show the preferred la0out arrange'ents of plant and #uildings and these shall not #e changed without the written appro"al of the C+,-.T. The arrange'ents shown on the Specification Drawings ha"e #een #ased on t0pical si>es of plant and e6uip'ent. The #uildings and roads within the Site and their design and detailing shall co'pl0 with a)+ satisf0 the funda'ental technical and operational re6uire'ents of plant to #e acco''odated therein and with the re6uire'ents of this specification. oo' si>es shall not #e s'aller than shown on the Specification Drawings #ut 'a0 #e larger if necessar0 to 'eet the re6uire'ents of the plant actuall0 #eing supplied and identified in the technical schedules. The Contractor should ascertain for hi'self during the tender stage that the plant he proposes to suppl0 will #e suita#le for the arrange'ents shown on Specification Drawings, and the Contract Price is dee'ed to include the cost of an0 enlarged #uildings or 'odified la0out to 'eet the design para'eters. 4ailure of C+,-.T to co''ent on drawings su#'itted #0 the Contractor during the tender stage which show 'odified arrange'ents not co'pl0ing with Specification Drawings and design para'eters shall not #e accepted as appro"ing

Particular attention should #e gi"en to the positioning of doors, windows and lou"ers to 'ini'i>e the effects of sandstor's and salt laden spra0 and winds fro' the sea. Cladding, flashing and the li3e shall #e as tightl0 fitting as practica#le so as to e5clude pollution under all li3el0 local weather conditions. *ll e5ternal doors shall ha"e canop0?protection and #e sealed to pre"ent ingress of dust and wind #lown rainwater, using hea"0$dut0 seals, which shall ha"e canop0?protection and #e guaranteed for a 'ini'u' period of fi"e 0ears fro' date of co''issioning. The doors and seals shall #e designed so that replace'ent of worn seals can #e achie"ed easil0 on site. 2.2 Site Sur"e0 and Su#soil ,n"estigation The Contractor shall carr0 out the su#$soil in"estigations and in$site or la#orator0 tests re6uired to co'pletel0 satisf0 the design para'eters he chooses for foundation or other geo$technical design. The in"estigation and su#se6uent tests shall #e in accordance with 1S.%93( and 1S.13// respecti"el0. Sa'ples shall #e ta3en as necessar0 and tested to deter'ine the ph0sical and che'ical characteristics of the "arious strata and of the ground water, if encountered. ecords of #oring and trial e5ca"ations and results of tests on sa'ples shall #e incorporated into a su#$soil in"estigation report. This shall include reco''endations on the t0pe of foundation and on the design #earing capacit0 of the su#$soil and shall #e su#'itted to C+,-.T for appro"al. The Contractor shall sur"e0 the site of the wor3s to esta#lish precisel0 the site #oundaries and ground le"els o"er the whole area. The site sur"e0 plan shall #e prepared showing the sur"e0 results and the proposed la0out of new wor3s. Copies of this plan shall #e sent to C+,-.T. The su#soil and sur"e0 infor'ation supplied to the Contractor is gi"en in good faith #ut the accurac0 is not guaranteed, and an0 "ariation #etween this infor'ation and actual site conditions will not #e accepted as the #asis of a clai' or reason for "ariation of contract rates.
