Chartered Bank: Chartered Bank establish on the order of king or queen. Or in accordance with the charter of a country. ex: Bank of England

Constitution bank: Constitution bank establish on the order of president or according to the special act of parliament. ex: State Bank of Pakistan

On the basis of Registration : Schedule Bank Non Schedule Bank

Schedule Bank: Schedule Banks are those banks which are registered with SBP. Follow the policies and rules of SBP ex: Allied Bank of Pakistan

Non Schedule Bank: Non Schedule Banks are those banks which are not registered with SBP Independent from the restrictions and conditions of SBP ex: Faysal Bank

On the basis of creation of money:


Central Bank Commercial Bank

Central Bank: Central Bank is a bank of bankers. Its duty is to control the monetary base and supply of money. ex: Central bank of Russia

Commercial Bank: Commercial Bank is a bank that receives deposits, advances loans and discounts bills ex: Habib Bank

On the basis of ownership: Government Bank Private Bank

Government Bank: Government Bank its a bank which is owned by the central or provincial government of a country ex: National Bank of Pakistan

Private Bank: Private Bank is a bank which is owned by the public ex: Soneri Bank

On the basis of Domicile: Domestic Bank International Bank

Domestic Bank: Domestic Banks are those banks which are owned by the state or public of a country ex: Muslim Commercial Bank

International Bank: International Banks are those banks which are owned by the State or public of foreign country ex: Barclays

Development Banks: International development bank Regional development bank Industrial development bank Agricultural development bank

International development bank: International development banks are those banks which focus on the agricultural, industrial and social welfare of all countries at International level. ex: World Bank

Regional development bank: Banks which are established for the development of a specific region or area. ex: Asian development bank

Industrial development bank: Banks which are establish for the development of industry. ex: IDBP

Agricultural development bank: Banks which are established for the development of agricultural sector. ex: ZTBL

Investment bank: These banks specialize in large scale deposits and dealing mainly with companies instead of public ex: Islamic Investment bank

Saving Bank: Saving Banks are those banks which develop saving habits in people ex: National saving Center

Consumer Bank: Those banks which advance loans to their customers ex: Muslim Commercial Bank

Exchange Bank: These banks provide exchange of currency and issuance of travel cheques ex: Western Union Bank

Mortgage Bank: These banks provide loans of short, medium and long term nature against land and buildings ex: Mortgage bank of Spain

Co-operative Bank: These banks provide credit facilities to the residents of the particular area or a particular class of people ex: Karakorum Co-operative Bank Limited
