The $500 grant offered by the MAAQ has been received by the club. A working bee will be organised in the near future to fit the new shade cloth over the pit area. Please check emails regularly for date and time of working bee. A discussion was held regarding fundraising activities for the club so that further enhancements can be made to the clubs facilities. If you have any ideas on this, please take the idea to a member of the management committee. Advice was received from MAAA that a new Manual of Procedures (MOP058) has been developed regarding the use of 2.4GHz equipment. Please refer to the MAAA website to view this document.
New Members! We welcome the following new members to our club: Lee Taylor, Tom Bunning, Roston James, Trevor Martin, David Higgins, Isaac Matthews and Shane Wise.
The Rocky Rally control line weekend will be held at our Gavial field on the 17th and 18th of September. Two circles will be in operation with camping and catering included as part of the fun fly event. Several visitors are expected to attend with many control line models set to be on display. NSW Control Line Champs Barry Fredrickson attended the NSW control line champs in June and picked up 3rd in classic and 3rd in vintage stunt. Congratulations Barry! Maryborough Weekend Several RMAC members attended the Maryborough weekend. The weekend consisted solely of control line flying, with plenty of models of display. Reports were that the weekend was thoroughly enjoyed by all and I believe that free flight will be back on the agenda next year! An unofficial note to all RMAC members from Hubert de Chastel. OUR OWN CLUB SONG? ? ? A song we could sing1. as a group when we have visitors to our field 2. as a group when we go to other fields 3, or just for our own personal use, anywhere, anytime. I personally think that would be something we should have. Please consider the possibility and let me know your thoughts before the end of July, about whether you liked the idea, are willing to help with its composition, or whatever, so that we can have something to present at our end of year function this year, which will be our 65th anniversary. Rocky Helicopter Fun Fly Report Once again we had our annual fun fly. We had 6 eager heli flyers drive down all the way from Townsville and 3 local boys. Unfortunately it was a small attendance this year however everyone had a great weekend even though the weather wasnt good for flying!!!! The meals for the weekend were provided for the travellers by the club, with everyone full after each meal. A big thank you to our new member Tom Bunning who arranged for his wife to help with some cooking. From all accounts everyone was happy with her lasagne, chicken stir fry & triffle. Thanks to our president who came out as a club representative and to the other club members who came out to support our event on both days. Due to low numbers this year and the uncertainty of it being financially viable, next years event is in doubt, we hope over the next 12 months more people will join and support this event as it is a weekend we would like to continue hosting! Thanks again, Bert Gilbert & Richard Fay Propwash Newsletter - Page 3
Best of show went to Chris Venter flying a 2.4 metre Skymaster MB-339 Aermacchi in Italian display team colours with a 16kg thrust JetCat turbine. Maryborough club has great facilities and many of their club members came out to help at the event. The club makes about $6000 profit from this one event. It was really nice to be a guest and just enjoy flying very spoilt. Rest assured Ill be back again next year only 354 sleeps to go :) Report by Scott Lawton. Propwash Newsletter - Page 4
