Dear Sir, I am writing to you in response to the article in your Newspaper concerning the todays problem of loss of traditions

and customs these days. In this letter I would like to present some ideas how to solve the problem of that cultural loss. In the time of the unification of both economical and cultural aspects of life, also known as globalization, all people face the same problem of loss of national customs and traditions. People wear the same clothes all around the world; they listen to the same music and so forth. People from generation to generation lose the awareness of their national identity, customs, traditions and history. This process will impoverish our global cultural legacy. How can we stop it? How can we preserve our national uniqueness and culture? I would like to present a few suggestions how to solve these problems. First, there should be established special institutions and foundations that would deal with culture preservation. Because this issue is our mutual concern, it should be financed from the governmental budget and one percent of our taxes should be designated to this cause. Second, there should be prepared a program of the promotion of culture. For example, there should be organized cultural parades and festivals, free entrance to national museums should be available to everyone. The promotion of culture would be more effective if it was supported by rich TV channels and film industry. It would become fully successful if it involved the grass-roots initiative. In conclusion, without nationwide engagement and without help from state governments the process of cultural loss is inevitable. But with just a bit of good will and eagerness great things can be done. I am looking forward to hearing other opinions on the problem of cultural loss. Yours sincerely, Tomasz Jakubowski

Dear Sir, I am writing to you, because of the article about global warming you have published in last issue of the Newspaper. I am concerned with this issue having in mind the future of my children. The growing problem of global warming is still pending. The increasing pollution of the atmosphere and of the whole environment is mostly caused by thoughtless use of the Earths resources. All things that cause global warming are vital for our day-to-day existence, like energy production, cars, refrigerators and lithium batteries that energize mobile phones, mp3 players and all sorts of things of everyday use. It seems that our civilization should return to dark ages, but this is not a solution. I have a few suggestions how to deal with the problem of global warming. First of all, governments should finance research on new technologies combining different sources of renewable energy. The old inefficient carbon-based technologies of energy production should be fully replaced with solar energy and energy generated from other natural resources such as wind, tides geothermal heat. The use of conventional fuels such as gas oil should be strictly restricted and in course of time fully replaced with natural fuels. But to fully succeed in that, governments should make a countrywide or even worldwide promotion of ecological lifestyle and production. People should be encouraged to use things that are multi-use, bio-degradable and environment-friendly. Companies should be financially encouraged to give up the inefficient environment-polluting technologies and penalized for producing too much pollution. In conclusion, we should do our best to bring the Earths atmosphere and environment back to normal because it is our home, and we should treat it like home, it should serve us for many generations. A few of my suggestions about environments preservation have been already put into practice, but there is still much to be done. I am looking forward to hearing other opinions on ecological issues. Yours sincerely, Tomasz Jakubowski
