DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES: 1. HEMATOLOGY / Complete Blood Count (CBC) Date and Time of Examination: July 30, 2013 3:05 PM Data: RBC, WBC, HCT & PLT Description: A complete blood count is usually a series of tests in which the numbers of red blood cells and platelets in given volume of blood are counted. The CBC also measures the hemoglobin content and the packaged cell volume (hematocrit) of the red blood cells, assesses the size and the shape of red blood cell, and determines the types and percentages of the white blood cells. Significance: Provides valuable information about the blood and blood forming tissues, as well as other body system. Abnormal results can indicate the presence of a variety of conditions sometimes before the patient experiences symptoms of disease. 2. Urinalysis Date and Time of Examination: Sept. 03, 2012 4:09 PM Data: Urine Description: Urinalysis is a diagnostic physical, chemical, and microscopic examination of urine sample (specimen). Specimens can be obtained by normal emptying of the bladder (voiding) or by a hospital procedure called catheterization. Significance: It is a useful screening tool for diseases such as urinary tract infections, renal disease, and other disease of the body which result in the formation of compounds that can be detected in the urine at abnormal levels.
