What is Digital Jam 3.0 Caribbean edition?

Regional initiative of the World Bank and the Government of Jamaica together with several other partners

Seeks solutions to high youth unemployment via the virtual global economy

Connects Caribbean youth to IT industry leaders in the world and provides trainings

Provides Caribbean youths with a stage where they can showcase their talent

Encourages a culture of entrepreneurship

Digital Jam 3.0 include 3 types of activities

Three Mobile apps competitions :
Pioneers of the Caribbean: Developers define problem and solutions Game changers: Gaming Apps Stunning beginners: Competition for non-specialists using open-access software (Microsofts Apps Studio)

Hands-on workshops to explore work opportunities in the global virtual economy via
E-lancing Microwork Open source software use

A Get up, STARTUP conference including sessions on:

The perfect pitching of a business idea Squeeze cash out of an idea: monetizing your concept Beyond banks: dont underestimate the power of crowdfunding Discover you value: best strategies for personal branding

Who can participate in the Digital Jam 3.0 Caribbean edition Mobile Apps Competition?
Participants can enter the competition as individuals or teams of up to four [4] people and must meet the following criteria: At least half of the team must be under the age of 30. At least half the members of the team must be citizens of a CARICOM country; All team members must be registered at www.facebook.com/digitaljam3 Team can submit a maximum of 2 [two] concepts per category. As indicated above, the competition is structured along 3 sub-themes: General (Pirates of the Caribbean) Gaming (Game Changers) Microsoft Apps Studio (Stunning Beginners).

How can I join the Mobile Apps competition?

Sign up for to the Mobile App Competitions at www.facebook.com/digitaljam3 by filling in a team sign up form. Select the category in which you want to participate

SIGN UP

APP CONCEPT

Submit your concept by using the specific application on Facebook, by December 31. Proposed app concepts will be reviewed by the competition organizers SUBMIT YOUR An invitation to compete will be sent on January 6th, 2014.

CREATE YOUR APP

Each team may only submit one [1] app to the competition but you are allowed to submit an app that has versions for different mobile platforms (e.g., iOS version and Android version, or others).

Submit your app to the judging panel for testing and evaluation by February 16th, 2014. Finalist teams will be invited to present their apps at Digital Jam 3.0 final event March 1-2, SUBMIT YOUR 2014 in Kingston, Jamaica,

Open the internet browser Type www.live.com or www.hotmail.com Click on Sign up now Fill in the form (name, date of birth, gender, account name, password, phone number, country, zip code, verification code) Click I Accept

Lets sign-in! Visit: http://apps.windowsstore.com/ Click on: Sign in with your Live or Hotmail Account Allow App Studio to access your information

Register and Personalize

At this time you will have the option of editing your username. Click on the box to accept the terms and policies of the page. Click on Register Feel free to browse around. Lets Get Cracking! Once you are ready to start click on the Create App button

You will have the option of creating an app from scratch Create an Empty App or selecting one of the remade templates available to you.

Make it yours!
Select your preferred template and start customizing! You can edit the content, pictures, menu, colors and much more! Just follow steps 1-3 on the dashboard and start creating!

Generate the App!

When you have completed steps 1-3 you can generate your very own app in step 4! Confirm the app generation

Click on the checkmark and you will receive an email when your app is created and is ready to share with family and friends!

You Did it! Now Share it!
