Function
This unit forms the interface between the 2 Mbit/s line signal and the tributaries connected to the internal bus. The PCM controller fulfils the common functions of the multiplexer : configuration control and main processing of voice/data and interface with common alarm system for man-machine communication. The AFXX version of this unit has a special feature : the operational firmware can be downloaded into the controller`s memory using a PC. For this purpose the 9-pin F interface connector should be connected to the PC`s serial port.

Front connector J : used to connect the PCMC2bis to a PC`s serial com port for test purposes or firmware download into the controller`s memory via a cable 772 55123 XXXA. Refer to the separate manual of the download software.

For the location of the switches refer to figure 1. The straps on X860 are only used during board test, as ther are normally not accessible : D connection A1-B1 : Reset D connection A2-B2 : Test (monitor) mode or software download mode. D connection A3-B3 : not connected To proceed with the software download, pins A2 and B2 have to be connected as indicated on Figure 1. During normal operation, no straps may be present on X860. After board test and firmware download, the strap must be removed.
