Introduction
The emphasis of the competition was on presentation skills and technical expertise with each speaker giving a lecture type presentation followed by a questionandanswer (Q&A) session. The National Lecture Competition (NLC) was later renamed to Young Persons Lecture Competition (YPLC) in 2007. From then on, School of Materials and Mineral Resources Engineering (SMMRE), USM and IOM3 (Malaysia Branch) has been organizing YPLC and delivered Malaysian finalists to the world competitions.

Objectives
To support activities arranged by IOM and IOM3, YPLCM 12 is organized in search of a suitable candidate to represent Malaysia at the world finals (YPWLC 2012). To provide a platform for young materials/mineral related researchers/scientists, engineers or even individuals to develop their presentation skills by addressing an informed audience. audience To advocate understanding and facilitate dissemination of knowledge.

Rules & Eligibility

The competition is opened to students and researchers under the age of 28 years old on August 2012 exclude academic staffs (lecturers) from schools, polytechnics, colleges and universities
