What concept have you developed for your major work?

Set in West Germany, during the fall of the Berlin wall in the 1990s with Soviet president Gorbachev in charge of the government. Therein lies a detective/investigator who possesses an ability to read the minds of other humans though only for 2 minutes. Investigating the brutal death of a high class political woman in a shopping mall, he has only 6 days to complete his investigation and find the perpetrator who carried out the deed. In the end after searching through thoughts and stringing up the clues he returns back to the scene one last time and looks into his own reflection through a broken pane of glass, finding himself to be the killer, each of the clues fitting together differently to what he had pictured but still perfectly, like an anagram that can form multiple words. The ending would be self-sustained with guilt and sorrow as well as trauma. Possibly a permanent blindfold Why are you interested in this concept? Its interesting to note the history during this time, and the way of life, but also the dialogue and the languages of both the Germans and the Russian What are the sources of inspiration? Lots and lots of video and gaming experience, visuals of Russian alleyways and deserted flats come into mind, with graffitied walls.

How is your concept an extension of the knowledge, understanding and skills developed in English (Advanced) and (Extension) courses? The use of belonging to a society and the land can be easily incorporated into the story to create and almost visual representation of the landscape.

What are you aiming to achieve during the Extension 2 course? Well for starters I plan to finish my major work long before the deadline so that I can do additional research on the customs and religions as well as the languages How are you planning to achieve this purpose? Hard work, lots of love, marriage to English so onso onso on sacrifice my eyes (computer) to the subject

Have you decided on the form in which you would like to compose? Short Story with input of diary entries and song verses Why have you chosen this particular form? As a short story, itll be easier to integrate descriptions in between the plots and also the input of journal entries and song verses will not be unorthodox. Who is the target audience of your work? The target audience of my major work will be for teenagers and adults Why? This is because its like crime fiction, and may contain parts which would be unsuitable for children

What investigation have you undertaken to date? Ive undertaken investigation of a post war zone and the psychological impacts of such a time. Also Ive undertaken research on language and the setting of Russia during post World War II. What research path do you intend to pursue? I intend to pursue the type of descriptions used in crime fiction stories How are you planning to evaluate your investigation and the development of your work?

What resources have you identified as being worthwhile? How have you used them?

How are you using the journal? What system have you developed to ensure that you document the investigative process and the process of composition?

What challenges do you forsee?

How are you planning to address these?
