GB-OS automatically verifes confguration settings for correctness and adherence to your security
policy. When working in Test Mode, verifcation can help point out potential problems with your frewall's
confguration before they are applied to Live Mode.
Detailed descriptions for verifcation errors and warnings are available at Confgure>Verify. Descriptions for
errors are displayed with a red font, while warnings are displayed with a black font.

The navigation menu, located on the left side of the browser window, is dynamically updated to display
the verifcation status of a confguration area. lcons displayed alongside a menu item have four states:
Wh|te (default/non-confgurablej: Menu items with a white icon are either using default settings
or cannot be confgured (such as Summary display screens, which do not contain confguration
optionsj.
Grey (disabledj: Menu items with a grey icon are disabled and are not used in the frewall's
confguration.
Green (verifedj: Menu items with a green icon have been verifed to be confgured correctly and
should not confict with the frewall's confguration.
Ye||ow (warningj: Menu items with a yellow icon may be incorrectly confgured and can confict
with the frewall's confguration.
Red (errorj: Menu items with a red icon are verifed to be incorrectly confgured and can confict
with the frewall's confguration.
lcon states move up through the menu tree. For example, in Figure 2.24, confguration settings in Address
Objects have resulted in a verifcation error. Since the Address Objects screen is nested within the Objects menu,
the verifcation state is identifed by a red icon for the Address Objects screen, and the Objects menu. Errors
take precedence over warnings, and warnings take precedence over verifed settings. Thus, menus that
contain confguration screens with both errors and warnings will be identifed with an error icon.

ln addition to menu icons, GB-OS also displays verifcation fags if a confguration area contains
warnings or errors. lf a confguration area contains a warning or an error in its confguration, a verifcation
fag will be displayed in the top menu bar of the GB-OS interface. verifcation fags are hyperlinked to
their specifc section in the Confgure>Verify screen.
verifcation fags have two states:
Ye||ow (warningj: Confguration areas with a yellow verifcation fag may be incorrectly confgured
and can confict with the frewall's confguration.
Red (errorj: Confguration areas with a red verifcation fag are verifed to be incorrectly
confgured and can confict with the frewall's confguration.
lf there are no verifcation warnings or errors for a confguration area, then no verifcation fags will be
displayed.
