Wie wird Smart_MOD eingesetzt / How to use Smart_MOD ?

Smart_MOD dient zur einfachen Anbindung von Gerten bzw. Systemen, die ber eine serielle RS-232Schnittstelle verfgen, an Modbus. ber die serielle Schnittstelle knnen beliebige ASCIIProtokolle gefahren werden. Smart_MOD kann dabei die komplette Protokollabarbeitung zum Gert / System bernehmen, so dass auf der Seite des Modbus nur noch die eigentlich relevanten Prozessdaten wie Messwerte, Stellwerte, Gerteparametrierdaten etc. transferiert werden mssen.

By means of Smart_MOD, devices and systems with a serial RS-232 interface can be easily connected to Modbus. Via the serial interface all ASCII protocols can be driven. Smart_MOD is able to carry out the complete computation of the device / system protocol. Therefore only process relevant data like measurement values, set points, device parameters etc. have to be transferred via the Modbus network.

Konfiguration / Configuration
Die Einstellung der Slave-Adresse erfolgt ber The slave address is defined via code switches (hex coded). The configuration of the serial interface and the bus baud rate of Smart_MOD is done via the used master system through a configuration protocol. The standard bus baud rate is 19,2 kBaud. As an alternative the user is able to use a tool for configuration over the serial interface.

Codierschalter (Hexcodierung). Die Konfiguration der seriellen Schnittstelle und der busseitigen Baudrate von Smart_MOD erfolgt ber den eingesetzten Master per Konfigurationsprotokoll. Die Standardbaudrate liegt busseitig bei 19,2 kBaud. Alternativ kann der Benutzer ein Tool fr die Konfiguration ber die RS-232Schnittstelle nutzen.

Transparentmodus / Transparent Mode

Smart_MOD arbeitet in der Standardversion mit dem sogenannten Transparentmodus. Dieser ermglicht es, Daten ber Modbus an Modus die im The default version of Smart_MOD works with the so called transparent mode. This mode makes it possible to send data via Modbus to the integrated serial interface of Smart_MOD or send data from the serial interface of the device via Modbus back to e. g. a PC or PLC.

Smart_MOD integrierte serielle Schnittstelle zu senden bzw. Daten, die von der seriellen Schnittstelle der Baugruppe kommen, ber Modbus zurck an z. B. einen PC oder eine SPS zu versenden.

Anwendungsbeispiel / Example Ein Gert mit serieller Schnittstelle wird ber den Smart_MOD an ein Modbus-Mastersystem angeschlossen. Beispielsweise kann eine SPS nun an die Adresse von Smart_MOD eine Anforderung (z. B. 'Sende aktuellen Messwert') mit dem Protokoll des Endgertes senden. Smart_MOD erledigt in diesem Fall nur die Umsetzung der Schnittstellen und verhlt sich in der Kommunikation vollkommen transparent, so dass die Dekodierung der Anforderung vom Endgert vorgenommen wird. Das betreffende Gert antwortet und liefert die gewnschten Daten zurck. Diese Betriebsart ermglicht es dem Anwender, das Endgert ber Modbus mit dem gertespezifischen Protokoll anzusprechen. Die Modbus spezifische Registerstruktur bleibt dabei erhalten. A device with a serial interface is connected to a Modbus network via Smart_MOD. With any application a request (e. g. 'send actual value') by using the protocol of the device can be sent to the address of Smart_MOD. Smart_MOD in this case only makes the conversion of the interfaces and keeps in the communication complete transparent, so the decoding of the request is managed by the device. The device answers and gives back the requested data. This mode makes it possible for the user to connect the device via Modbus with the specific protocol of the device. The Modbus specific register structure is still alive in this usage.

Weitere Protokolle & Zusatzfunktionen / Further operation modes

Kundenspezifische ASCII-Protokolle auf Seite der Customer specific ASCII protocols on side of the RS-232 can be easily integrated. Smart_MOD makes it easily possible for you to integrate and connect devices, which use specific communication protocols on serial interface, to an existing Modbus network (e. g. a Siemens PLC by using the 3964R protocol). Through the implementation of a customers protocol into Smart_MOD the concerning device can fully be controlled via Modbus. Hereby only short and application specific commands are sent to Smart_MOD what takes Smart_MOD to carry out the complete protocol work regarding the device. For access only relevant data have to be transmitted, what leads to a relief of the controlling PC and the concerning Modbus network.

RS-232 knnen einfach implementiert werden. Smart_MOD ermglicht es Ihnen Gerte, die spezifische Kommunikationsprotokolle auf der seriellen Schnittstelle verwenden, einfach in ein bestehendes Modbus Netzwerk einzubinden und anzusteuern (z. bernimmt. Fr den Zugriff mssen somit nur die relevanten Daten bertragen werden, was zu einer Entlastung des Steuerungsrechners betreffenden Modbus Netzwerkes fhrt. und des

Ein weiterer kundenspezifischer Anwendungsfall fr Smart_MOD ist der Einsatz als Datenlogger fr ein Endgert im Modbus. Smart_MOD fordert beispielsweise vom Endgert zyklisch aktuelle Betriebsdaten an und stellt diese fr einen Abruf ber Modbus bereit. Mit dieser Funktionalitt knnen auch von einem Endgert mit sehr langsamer serieller Schnittstelle vllig entkoppelt und sehr schnell aktuelle Daten abgerufen werden. A further customer specific application for Smart_MOD is the use as an Modbus connectable datalogger for a device. For example Smart_MOD cyclically requests actual data from the device and provides this data for a retrieve via Modbus. With this functionality actual data can be requested very fast and fully independent from a very slow serial interface of a device.
