Effect of Last Minute Preparation

Xavier, a complete boy-band looks plus athletic. An all-time student's favourite but a public enemy no.1 for the teacher's committee because he flunked on his exams and studies. What is the major factor of his problem ? Obviously, it's the time management itself. In every institute of varsity, their virtue mission is to produce transcendence intellectual beings. To achieve this mission, they are evaluated through academic performance. If student have indigent time management, this will retarded the university's mission, thus making their main objectives absurd. We all have been in a tight situation which causes us to do a last minute preparation. An aftermath of this have make our chances of excellence in various field diminished. Our brains are not machines. We need more time to process since the input knowledge need to be stored over a period of time for a long term of memorising rather than cram everything in the last minute. By habituate this action, it will create more pressure prior exam, and during the exam itself. The pressure of prior exam due from trying to memorise everything in a flash would not do any good. In accordance, this method will continue stressing the student during exams because of the pressure. It is inefficient as it disrupt the output process and jamming the brain. Besides, if we understand the basic concept, we do not have to really memorise it. If we just keep memorising it without an understanding, we are incapable to apply the concept during work. A simple analogy, a football player do not need to memorise steps for dribbling, they practice it to be good at it. As you have no time to prepare for something such as examination, presentation or assignment, you have to stay up on that night. This leads to lack of sleeping. Lacking of sleep caused various bad effect to health. Firstly, an occasional night without sleep makes you feel tired and irritable the next day. Due to the lack of sleep can disrupt your immune system, so you are less able to fend off diseases. Then, the mental effects become more serious. Your brain will fog, making it difficult to concentrate and make decisions. You will start to feel down, and may drop off during the day. You risked to sleep during exam and cannot pay attention in class. Other than that, sleepiness makes you forgetful. As evidence, in 2009 the American and French researchers determined that brain responsible for consolidating memory. The information transferred from the hippocampus to the neo cortex of the brain, where long-term memories are stored. Memory transfer cannot occur when you lack of sleep. So you cannot memorised the subject during exam. Quality is the most important aspect in everything that we do. Last minute preparation is going to damage it. Apart from that, the punctuality in our work is also harmed and prolonging procrastination thus degrading our Key Performance Index (KPI). From studying to professionalism field, we have to deal with projects, work, presentations and etc. We should always be ready but the only thing that last minute prep helping is making ourselves

unprepared, more nervous and panic. When we do something at the eleventh hour, it induced a flaw work, lousy presentation and debased our self appearance. Last minute preparation can change your personality. It happened when you have insufficient time to prepare for presentation, assignment or examination. Then, you will stay up all night that cause you sleep in examination or in lecture. Sleeping in class will contaminate your personality. On the other hand, your attire was unprepared, so you will be wear messy attire to the class or presentation. In addition, when you have an interview with messy attire you may fail to get job or vacancy. Besides, last minute preparation can also make you get hot tempered and grumpy. Based on University of Pennsylvanias researchers, the person that prolonged lack of sleeping can easily get stress, so when you get stress you cannot control and become hot tempered. That is why early preparation is important to practice. In a nutshell, procrastinating and last minute preparation will only attract negativity outcomes that will harm our study and carrier in the future. Lets change the paradigm, by starting to change today. Be proactive and be ready ! Prepare early, and may the odds ever be in your favour
