REGULATIONS
There are two kinds of regulations that students should consider: General Regulations of the University and Regulations of the Faculty. General Regulations of the University are applicable to all qualifications and programmes offered by this University. These regulations are set out in part 1 of the General Calendar of the University, and deal with admission to the University, registration as student, requirements for passing, examinations, etc. Students should note that the General Regulations are applicable to all qualifications offered in the Faculty of Theology. Regulations of the Faculty apply specifically to degree and other programmes of this Faculty and are expounded in this Calendar. The regulations according to which a student registers will be valid for the duration of his/her studies for that particular qualification. It is the responsibility of students to be well acquainted with the General Regulations as well as the Faculty Regulations.

BACCALAUREUS THEOLOGIAE
The following baccalaureus degree is conferred in the Faculty on NQF Level 7: Degree Baccalaureus Theologiae REG. K1 Information The B.Th. is a professional programme that runs over four years. It is the ideal programme for students who wish to enter the ministry with a degree. The B.Th. offers a core curriculum for a variety of churches, covering the entire field of theology. Some churches require only three years of training. Even in these cases students need to register for the B.Th. degree [see B.A. (Theology)]. A candidate for the degree B.Th., who desires to be trained as a minister in his/her church, must consult with his/her denomination to determine whether the elective modules chosen are the correct selection required by his/her church so that, where necessary, the Curatory of his/her denomination can guide him/her. Qualifying tests involve a knowledge of the Bible and Church doctrine and must be completed successfully in order to qualify for the degree. The curriculum for this degree covers eight semesters (four academic years) and the student should obtain at least 512 credits (128 credits per year) as prescribed. Where students are allowed a choice of modules, they should make certain that the class and examination timetables do not clash. Requirements for admission It is the responsibility of students to make sure that they comply with the general regulations for admission. To be admitted to the B.Th. programme a student should have obtained a Senior Certificate with

endorsement and an M-count of 28 (in 2007 or before) or in terms of the National Senior Certificate (from 2008) an admission point of 28 and the language of instruction of choice (Afrikaans or English) at achievement level 4 (=50%). Students who do not meet this requirement may with an admission point (AP) of 23-27 and the language of instruction of choice (Afrikaans or English) passed at achievement level 4 (=50%), be admitted to the B.Th. Extended programme or the University Diploma in Theology. Degree cum laude (i) In the compulsory (fundamental and core) modules a combined mark of at least 75% must be obtained. (ii) In the minimum number of elective modules, an average mark of at least 70% must be obtained. (iii) With regard to (i) and (ii) the credit value of every module will operate as a factor in calculating the percentage. (iv) The degree must be obtained in five years. REG. K1 BACCALAUREUS THEOLOGIAE (EXTENDED PROGRAMME) B.Th. (Extended Programme) Study code 9302 Information Extended Programme The B.Th. (Extended Programme) runs over five years. It is the ideal programme for students who wish to enter the ministry with a degree and need some academic development. The B.Th. offers a core curriculum for a variety of churches, covering the entire field of theology. A candidate for the degree B.Th., who desires to be trained as a minister in his/her church, must consult with his/her denomination to determine whether the elective modules chosen are the correct selection required by his/her church so that, where necessary, the Curatory of his/her denomination can guide him/her. Qualifying tests involve a knowledge of the Bible and Church doctrine and must be completed successfully in order to qualify for the degree. The curriculum for this degree covers ten semesters (five academic years) and the student should obtain at least 640 credits (128 credits per year). Where students are allowed a choice of modules, they should make certain that the class and examination timetables do not clash.

To be admitted to the extended B.Th. programme a student should have obtained a Senior Certificate with endorsement and an M-count of 24-27 (in 2007 or before) or in terms of the National Senior Certificate (from 2008) an admission point of 23-27 and the language of instruction of choice (Afrikaans or English) at achievement level 4 (=50%). With this achievement the student may alternatively enter the B.Th. Extended Programme or the University Diploma in Theology Degree cum laude (v) In the compulsory (fundamental and core) modules a combined mark of at least 75% must be obtained. (vi) In the minimum number of elective modules, an average mark of at least 70% must be obtained. (vii) With regard to (i) and (ii) the credit value of every module will operate as a factor in calculating the percentage. (viii) The degree must be obtained in six years. CURRICULUM Students are not allowed to take core modules of the curriculum above the curriculum year for which they have registered, except with special permission by the programme director and/or the dean. Students who pass Greek and Hebrew in the first semester are advised to take the corresponding module of the second semester (GRK124, HEB124). Students who fail one of the languages in the first semester, may when possible and with approval by the programme director enroll for HEB144 or GRK144. To be admitted to the second year of study, a student must have passed at least two of the three development modules and at least 32 of the 64 mainstream modules.

To be admitted to the B.A. Theology programme a student should have obtained a Senior Certificate with endorsement and an M-count of 28 (in 2007 or before) or in terms of the National Senior Certificate (from 2008) an admission point of 28 and the language of instruction of choice (Afrikaans or English) at achievement level 4 (=50%).
