Honorary Captains

Each year two Honorary Captains are chosen to be ambassadors for the race.

Adam Walski Age: 2 Diagnosis: Down Syndrome Adams favorite activities include playing with his siblings, dancing, playing the piano, and watching Garfield: The Movie. With his outgoing personality, Adam can always make anyone he sees smile! Adam has 3 siblings: Dylan, Brianna and Kaylee. His parents are Joel and Melissa Walski.

Who Benefits?
Families with children who have special needs often face lifelong medical bills and expenses. Children grow and change very quickly, and the equipment they need must change with them. Insurance does not always cover these costs; this is where Spin for Kids comes in. All money raised by Spin for Kids is disbursed to qualifying families to help them obtain the equipment and services they need.

What is Spin for Kids?

Spin for Kids is an indoor race on stationary spin bikes. Each team consists of eight riders that ride for 20 minutes each. There is a five minute break between each rider to record mileage and change riders.

How do I become involved?

RIDE Race Registration begins at 7a.m. on Feb. 19, 2013 and closes when all bikes are full. To register your team, the Team Captain or designated team member must pick up a race packet at Altrus Medical Fitness Center, located on the main level of Altru Rehabilitation Center. Register early! Bike numbers are limited. Please call 701.780.2516 with registration questions. The Spin for Kids mission is to provide supportive programs, services and equipment to children with special needs within our community and region.

All skill levels are welcome!

This year Spin for Kids will have three divisions, and teams will compete only with other teams from within their division: Elite Division: 10 Bikes If you are a very experienced or highly competitive team, this is the place for you. You will be competing with other similar teams and will be able to say you are the Best of the Best if you come out on top. Intermediate Division: 22 Bikes This division is still somewhat competitive, but for less experienced riders or those not interested in keeping pace with the elite riders. Beginner Division: 15 Bikes This division is for the novice who simply wants to have a fantastic time while raising money for a worthy cause.

Who We Are
Altru's Outpatient Pediatric Therapy Services utilizes a team approach for the treatment of neurological, orthopedic and genetic disorders, as well as problems associated with premature birth and developmental delays. Our goal is to assist each child to live the fullest life possible by enhancing function and fostering independence through innovative therapeutic programming.
