Introduction: The complexities in managing the business is increasing day by day as the Indian economy is opened up ,together with the industrial Recession , rapidly rising wages , increase in prices , stiffer competition ,uncertainty & lack of long-term government policies , the business man is endeavoring towards providing the society with the best available quality products at the most economical prices by taking a hard look at the costs . The importance of the subject is very much realized to Management students after the collapse of companies such as Tyco , Global Crossings ,World Com , & Enron because of lack of controls on the other hand the long term success story of world class companies like Emerson Electric , Lincoln Electric New York Times, Dell computers , Wal Mart , were successful not because they have developed good strategies ,but more importantly ,they have designed systems & processes that energize their employees to execute the strategies effectively. A MCS is a set of inter-related communication structures that facilitates the processing of information for the purpose of assisting managers in cocoordinating the parts & attaining the goals of the organization. All organizations use control systems, both formal & informal. The students are made clear with three words in this subject Management, Control & Systems. Learning Objectives: To familiarize Management control systems in general. To explain the various concepts of control. To understand the concept of Responsibility Accounting & responsibility Reporting & their importance for management control. To Appreciate & understand various types of Responsibility centers & their organizational significance. To study the Transfer price processing of corporate. To study the special requirements of service organizations with reference to Management control systems.
