"o to help her reco%er from her #ourney, I'%e decided to treat her to a full day of home spa treatments where we can #ust kick ack, rela!, and pamper oursel%es. I'm so happy you're here. It's een so long since I'%e seen you.

the cost and incon%enience of trying to 0get away0 can #ust add to the tension we were trying to get rid of in the first place. "o what do you do$ &he answer is to ring the spa home to you. With a little effort and planning, you can recreate a high)end spa treatment at home for a fraction of the cost. Kurt: 1ssential oils do stimulate deto!ification, and essential oils stimulate the regeneration of tissue, and if that is the goal of a spa treatment, then essential oils are right there on the money. + thin( what we/#e going to "o )i#%t' we/#e going to ma(e .p a )a0e ma%( an" then we/#e going to "o a han" an" )oot %0#.&' an" then we/#e 1.%t going to (i0( &a0( an" en1o* it. 2n" we/#e going to "o a )#.it ma%( to"a*' an" it/% going to &e &anana-&a%e". Now, I'm not seeing any fruit here. No, ecause you are going to get the there. *kay. .nd in this recipe, we only need a half a anana. $e/#e going to %ta#t with a ma%( ecause masks y themsel%es are really great for cleansing the skin, they're great for e!foliating, re#u%enating and o%erall rightening and tightening of the skin. "o I'm going to ha%e you mash / start to mash the anana. *kay. .nd the reason that we're using anana, y the way, it's one of the most nourishing fruits. &here's other fruits you can use for masks that are pretty great, like papaya, pumpkin and e%en tomato, ut the acid content in those can e a little it harsh. .nd what we're going to add to this, y the way, is an egg yolk. .nd the reason that we're going to use the yolk is ecause it's loaded with lecithin. .nd y the way, the cholesterol in an egg yolk is a good thing for your face, and you can use the lefto%er egg white later on ecause it's a great skin kind of tightener. .nd we're going to use 2ead "ea clay as part of the ase for this mask. &he reason I'm using the 2ead "ea clay is ecause it has a much more gentle effect. It's still going to deto! the skin, it's still going to alance it, ut it isn't going to dry your skin out. "o this is three ta lespoons, that's all we're going to add, which is y the way a 3uarter cup also. "o you can #ust e stirring in the wonderful 2ead "ea clay, which has all of those ama4ing minerals. Ne!t we're going to add half a ta lespoon of honey. "o this is orange lossom honey, and I'm a little it partial to it, only ecause you get the really great little / #ust a hint of the orange lossom. Honey is an ama4ing cosmetic ingredient and it's a natural humectant, and that means, like glycerin, it helps to attract and retain moisture. anana, which is there, which is o%er

.nd then the last main ingredient here is hea%y cream, #ust a lip, a little, tiny splash, you know, I don't know, half a teaspoon or so, to that effect. .nd we're adding that in ecause hea%y cream and dairy products, they all ha%e lactic acid, and all of the fat, the protein and the %itamins, e%erything, really helps to soothe the skin and maintain that acid mantle. Now, for the finale, we're adding the essential oil, neroli. "mell it. Natalie: Noelle: Kurt: *h, that's good. "o neroli is orange lossom essential oil, so it's the essential oil from the lossom of the itter orange tree. When we use neroli essential oil on the skin, especially on the face, there isn't only the physiological effect of skin regeneration, there is an o%erlay of a psychological effect. Neroli is pro a ly, within aromatherapy, the strongest an!iolytic agent, meaning it is the strongest agent that relie%es an!iety. "o whene%er we put neroli oil in a lend or in a concoction on the skin, we get this added sense of well) eing. "o we're #ust going to add ten drops of the neroli to our mi!. 5o%ely. "o this looks like it's a pretty good consistency. 5et's go to the athroom and try it. 6reat. .re you ready to use this great anana face mask that we #ust created$ *h, this is going to e great. Yes. "o, you know, we'%e done this. .ll we're going to do is scoop a little out and smear it on our faces. &hat's great. .m I looking good now$ Yes. I'm lo%ing this. .ll right. 7ecause I can do the foot all player. 8ust a%oid your eyes and your lips. 9or me, the face mask, I think that anana had such a nice, creamy te!ture, and the honey, the smell was really nice. "o I think that we're pretty much set. We #ust need to go to the li%ing room, sip our tea and rela! for a out ten minutes and let this do its work. irritated or dry. :sing the natural ingredients and the aromatherapy, I don't ha%e that reaction. I mean, my skin feels %ery soft, and #ust wearing it, rela!ing with it on, ha%ing the aromatherapy enefits of actually inhaling the essential oils, was %ery calming and rela!ing and %ery nice for me. Noelle: While Natalie and I re%el in the scent of our masks, the ingredients are working together to smooth and soften and re#u%enate our skin, ut we'%e only #ust egun our spa ad%enture. When we come ack, I'll show you how easy and fun it is to make an aromatic hand and foot scru that's far more effecti%e than the ones you're used to. You won't want to miss this. Welcome ack. &oday we're rein%enting the home as a rela!ing tropical spa getaway. -y sister Natalie has #ust arri%ed from a long day and night of tra%eling, so I'%e created e%erything with re#u%enation and rela!ation in mind. We'%e already made a soothing face mask, and now I'm going to show her how to make a scru that will smooth the skin on our o%erworked hands and feet, while ha%ing the added effect of ringing mind and spirit into alance. Hey, Nat, since I think that your feet and your hands ha%e pro a ly een eat up a little from the tra%el, we're going to make a hand and foot scru and mask. .nd #ust ecause you're in town from "outheast .sia, we're going to use rice powder as the ase for this scru . "o this is a really easy recipe, and it smells un elie%a ly great. .ll we're going to do is take a half a cup of our #asmine rice and we're going to grind it in a coffee grinder. "o while I grind this, we're going to e adding the %anilla ean. Why don't you get me a / get a cutting oard and a knife, so we can cut the %anilla ean while I grind this. "o see how I ha%e this really nice, powdery te!ture$ Now here's what we're going to do, we're going to add fresh, whole %anilla ean / that you #ust cut up / to our coffee grinder. .nd the enefit that we're going to get from grinding up the whole %anilla ean with this is that some of the actual essential oil of the %anilla ean will leach out into the rice powder. "o we're #ust going to grind up our %anilla ean with our #asmine rice powder. Natalie: Noelle: *kay. "hould e pretty well pul%eri4ed now. "o what we're going to do is #ust add our mi!ture into the owl, so we can make a paste out of it. "o to do that, in order to make a paste out of it, we're going to add some of the #asmine tea that we'%e een drinking. "o that's o%er there in the 9rench press / *kay. / so ring o%er some of that. "o we're #ust going to add a little ecause all we want to do is make a paste. *kay. "o you add and I'll stir. &he other thing I lo%e a out using warm tea is ecause when you scru it on your feet and hands, it's already warm. *kay, I think that's good. Now the essential oil that we're going to add to this particular lend is %eti%er. Ha%e you / ha%e you smelled %eti%er$

Wow, it's 3uite strong. It's pretty intense. ;eti%er is a uni3ue and into!icating essential oil. 5et's find out more a out how and why it's so good for us. &his plant is %eti%er. *kay, I know it's not much to look at, in fact, this is a out as good as e%er gets. .nd it doesn't e%en smell. "o why does an aromatherapist ha%e %eti%er in her garden$ It's ecause of the roots. :nderneath the soil, there's a root that has the most incredi le fragrance. It's used in a lot of aromatherapy products. &his plant comes from India, and it likes a warm climate. &hat means if you li%e in snow country, you'll ha%e a hard time growing it in the ground. I dug some of the roots up to show you. You can see that they're long and spindly, and they ha%e that ama4ing aroma of %eti%er. &his is when you egin to appreciate ha%ing this plant in your garden. &his recipe calls for <= drops, which is a out an eighth of a teaspoon. "o I'm #ust going to use half of this, ecause this is a 3uarter teaspoon, and that's what we're going to add to this. Now, I know that you said that the scent was strong, wait until you smell it with the / with the #asmine tea, the %anilla ean and that uttery, nutty scent of the #asmine rice. It's going to low your mind. .nd I think we're ready to go e!foliate. I get to scru in the tu . .ll right, here goes. &he foot and hand scru was / it was %ery nice. I / I'%e often used a foot or hand scru that's with e!foliating grains or salt or sugar, ut this one with that ground rice, it was a little it softer, a little it gentler, and I think that may e the nourishing aspects of the rice came out with that. It had a nice smell, I liked that aroma, and it really left my hands %ery soft and feet %ery soft and I felt like it kind of oosted my circulation, especially nice after / after a long airplane ride. :p ne!t, part two of our complete hand and foot treatment, a fun and simple a%ocado mask. +ome on ack. Hi, I'm Noelle Katai, and on today's show we're creating a home spa e!perience. &he inspiration for the spa treatments we're making today comes from my sister Natalie, who lo%es eing pampered and certainly deser%es it, after tra%eling halfway around the world to %isit me. 7efore the reak we applied a hand and foot scru , and now we're going to lend a hand and foot mask that's going to make our o%erworked e!tremities petal)soft.

*kay, so what do we do with the a%ocado now$ We're going to cut it up for guacamole. No, #ust kidding. We're making the last part of our tropical spa day lend. &his is going to e for our feet and our hands, for a really emollient mask. "o we're going to scru our feet and then we're going to use this mask on it, and a%ocado is going to e the ase for it. "o what you're doing is scooping out the a%ocado, and you know, a%ocado isn't #ust great for guacamole, o %iously. It has all the great %itamins and minerals, in fact it's loaded with ;itamin ., 7 and +, and it also has a slight astringent effect, so think a out how that would e on your skin. I mean, we know that

a%ocado oil is also really good for us, well, all that emollient, the emollients of the a%ocado itself, is going to e transferred to our feet and hands, which need it e%er so desperately. "o we #ust use one a%ocado and we're going to #ust mush it up. &he other thing that we're going to add to this, ecause we ha%e to make it really nutriti%e for our hands and feet, is some oli%e oil. Now, this is e!tra %irgin oli%e oil, if you don't ha%e it in your kitchen, you should get some, ecause e%ery ody should cook with it. 7ut one of the great things a out e!tra %irgin oli%e oil is that #ust naturally it's disinfectant, which is always good for our hands and feet, and for this recipe we're #ust adding a ta lespoon, really easy recipe. Ne!t we're going to add our friend, orange lossom honey, that we used in the face mask, and we're going to add two ta lespoons of the orange lossom honey. 5ast ut not least, for the ase of our lend here, we're going to use yogurt. 8ust two teaspoons of yogurt, it has the lactic acid in it, and also the fats and the proteins and the %itamins that are going to nourish our skin also. I'm going to add two essential oils to this lend, sandalwood and myrrh, with our theme for hands and feet eing to enefit dry and cracked skin and take care of those calluses. "o this is sandalwood, and sandalwood comes from the sandalwood tree. Natalie: Noelle: *h, that's great. "o ten drops of the sandalwood. "andalwood is another one of those oils that's great for all skin types, which is another reason that we can use it. I mean, you'%e got some sensiti%e skin. &en, lo%ely. .nd now myrrh, and for this lend we're going to e using eight drops. -yrrh actually comes from a small kind of shru , like a piney shru , in the -iddle 1ast. 5o%ely. "o that looks pretty good, we're ready to rela!. >ight, yeah. "o all we're going to do with this is #ust make sure that we get the mask on all the spots that need all the e!tra attention, like we did with the scru . 7efore we do our hands, we'll put our feet in some plastic ags and then wrap our feet in a towel. &he towel's going to help keep the heat in, so the mask is going to e a le to penetrate into your skin much more effecti%ely, using the warmth. Now we're going to do the hands. We're going to wrap our hands each in a plastic ag, then we're going to slip on o%en mitts. 1%ery ody has o%en mitts at home. Natalie: Noelle: Natalie: Noelle:

-y skin feels %ery soft and %ery much moisturi4ed. I feel like my hands and feet are so spa pampered now, and it was #ust / it was so easy to do at home and, you know, something I might not ha%e done on my own. 7ut now ha%ing done this with Noelle, I think I might ha%e to treat myself to do this at home now and then. *kay. When we come ack, I'll show you the ultimate ending to the perfect home spa day. 2on't go away. Welcome ack. &oday my sister Natalie and I used essential oils and natural ingredients to create a lu!urious tropical spa e!perience at home. We made a face mask, and took care of our hands and feet with oth a scru and a mask. .nd now I'm going to show you an easy and lu!urious treatment that makes the perfect ending to a perfect spa day. *ne of the est ways to end any spa day is with a ath, otherwise known as a hydrotherapy treatment, #ust to e fancy. .nd what I'%e done today is to create a 2ead "ea salt aromatic ath using salt from the 2ead "ea, which is %ery rela!ing to the muscles, it's great for your skin, any irritation, and to regenerate your skin cells. "o all I did was dissol%e a out a cup or so of the 2ead "ea salt, to which I added two ama4ing essential oils, perfect for a ath. &he essential oils I chose were #asmine and ylang)ylang. 7oth of these oils are %ery strong, heady, floral fragrances, which is why you only need a couple of drops of each to make an ama4ing difference, and your whole athroom's going to smell great. 8asmine, which I recommend e%ery ody has the opportunity to smell at least once ecause it's such an ama4ing fragrance, is naturally rela!ing, and most people that smell it are instantly uplifted. It's an ama4ingly into!icating fragrance. Ylang)ylang, %ery strong floral fragrance. .nd it's a pretty strong sedati%e, which is why it's a perfect oil to use at the end of any day, let alone a spa day. We're only going to use fi%e drops of the #asmine and fi%e drops of the ylang)ylang, again that I dissol%ed into the ath water with the salt initially. I sprinkled a couple of rose petals on, #ust to add a perfect effect, and since it's warm and ready, I'm going to go take a ath. It's so important to take time out to pamper oursel%es, and that doesn't ha%e to mean spending a lot of money. With only a few simple ingredients, you can create products that would e found in the most upscale spa destinations. &reatments like the anana)and)neroli face mask, or the #asmine rice scru with %eti%er and %anilla are simple, fresh, pure, and as effecti%e as anything out there. When it comes to cooking, most of us prefer things that are homemade. Well, hopefully now you'll think of spa treatments the same way. +heck out our we site for additional tips on creating a 3uick and easy ut wholly therapeutic spa right in your own home. I'm Noelle Katai. "ee you ne!t time.
