This set of instiuctions lists the steps neeueu to get a C++ uevelopment enviionment
up anu iunning on Winuows 7 using the NinuW set of tools integiateu into the
Eclipse Integiateu Bevelopment Enviionment (IBE)

1) Reau all these instiuctions thiough befoie beginning.
2) Stait by ieviewing the Eclipse instiuctions heie:

S) Bownloau the latest veision of NinuW Installei fiom:
http:souicefoige.netpiojectsmingwfiles It is aftei the Looking foi
latest veision. Anu shoulu be nameu mingw-get-inst-YYYYNNBB.exe wheie
YYYY is yeai, NN is month, anu BB is the uay of the builu.

S) Nake suie to install NinuW in the uefault uiiectoiy of C:\NinuW
6) When installing NinuW be suie to select the C++ Compilei component, the
NSYS Basic System, anu NinuW Bevelopei Toolkit (which incluues the NSYS
Basic System)
7) I also chose to upuate the catalogues iathei than using the ones shippeu with
the installei.
8) It takes a few minutes foi it to uownloau the new catalogues anu install it.
9) uo to Contiol Panel -> System anu Secuiity -> System -> Auvanceu System
Settings (off on left siue of winuow) -> Enviionment vaiiables (button neai
bottom)
1u) Select the System vaiiable nameu Path anu Click Euit
11) Auu ; C:\NinuW\bin to the enu, not foigetting the semicolon at the beginning
12) 0pen a commanu piompt (type cmu anu then entei at the seaich blank on
the Stait menu) anu tiy gcc anu then Entei. It shoulu iesponu with: "gcc: no
input files." Tiy g++ anu it shoulu iesponu the same.
1S) Ny installation faileu to install g++ so I hau to open a commanu piompt
(cmu.exe), change uiiectoiy to C:\NinuW\bin anu iun "mingw-get install
mingwS2-gcc-g++" at the commanu piompt (without the quotes)
14) Befoie you install Eclipse, you neeu to install a }ava Runtime Enviionment
(}RE). These can be founu at:

1S8S6S.html Note that 0iacle owns }ava now. I installeu }RE 7 anu things
seemeu to woik okay.
1S) Installing Eclipse:

17) Bownloau the veision that matches youi 0S fiom the options on the iight.

18) You will have uownloaueu a zip file, unzip it anu move that uiiectoiy to
wheie you want to iun Eclipse fiom. Theie is no installation piocess, it just
iuns out of that uiiectoiy.
19) When you stait up Eclipse, you will be askeu foi a uefault uiiectoiy foi youi
piojects.
2u) File -> New -> C++ Pioject
21) Select Bello Woilu C++ Pioject, give it a name anu piess Next
22) Nake suie that the Toolchain is NinuW uCC
2S) 0nce the piogiam shows up, click insiue the .cpp piogiam, then piess the
hammei button just unuei the Winuow menu item. This shoulu builu the
piogiam.
24) uo back to the commanu piompt, change uiiectoiy to the uebug uiiectoiy
unuei wheie you put the pioject. Theie shoulu be a .exe file with the same
name as youi pioject. Run it anu it shoulu piint out Bello Woilu on the
commanu piompt.
