I hope you all had a wonderful break and meaningful times together as families. I know it was a relaxing time for me! I just wanted to make sure you know how encouraged I have been by this class. They are making wonderful progress and really applying their learning to become great readers. They also loved to be challenged in Math. As the semester ends today, you can look for grades coming up on Jan. 29. Remember everything is online. If you have any questions about your childs progress, please talk with me. I would be happy to talk more.

Language Arts:
The first week back, which ended up being only 1 day, was a day on penguins. We read stories about penguins and did activities related to them. This past week we began Unit 2. The theme for the unit is Family and Neighbors. We focused on the syllables of f and ch and learned lots of words with these sounds. Our main story was on animal families and how they are different from each other. We practiced finding the main idea and supporting details. We also used that to write. We chose a main idea or topic and then came up with details to describe it.
