Stress, Art, and Poetry Event

Recruitment, Submission, and Other Information
Keep in mind: Please keep in mind; this is a project on stress, the brain and students. I need your help. Write or create artwork that in some way addresses stress, while still following a prompt. The goal of the project is to stimulate community-wide discussion on the flaws and strengths of the current American education system (high school and college). Participants will, through introspection (putting their thoughts on paper and/or canvas) gain new perspective on the society they live in, the school system they learn from, and on their own experiences of stress as students. Prompts: For Artwork or poetry: 1) Self-portrait: Heres me when Im stressed. 2) This is what education should look like. 3) This is what education looks like. (positive, negative, or both) Pick a style: Artwork ideas: Landscape, portrait, drawing, painting, collage, carving, sculpture, stamp/print, mosaic, photography, animation, digital form, video (dance, mime, song, etc.) or other original composition. Poetry ideas: Haiku, negation, extended metaphor, simile based, spoken word, ekphrastic (inspired by art), list, sonnet, rhyming, place poem, free verse, ode, or other original composition. Works will be chosen according to quality, taste, message, the amount of space available for display in the venue (Houston art gallery or restaurant), and the amount of time available for the poetry reading. Timing: The venue is pending, but only because I am trying to identify the best possible place. The event, regardless, will take place in early to mid March.
