! ! ! Foulke Threatened In Name of Klan: Flogging Promised! ! ! The text of the communication follows:! ! W.D. Fulke, Richmond, Ind. ! ! !

William Dudley Foulke is in receipt of a letter, mailed from Indianapolis at 3 o'clock Friday afternoon, in which he is threatened with a ogging because of his utterances against the Ku Klux Klan.!

"Why is it that you feel on account of your wealth you have the power to antagonize the progress of the K.K.K. ! "You are absolutely of no service to the citizens of Richmond or the welfare of the community. You do not employ any help except Jap and Chinese. You do not spend any of your money in Richmond. !

! Now unless you cease your activity you will receive a good ogging. ! ! "The ery Cross is here to stay." ! ! ! -! !

Mr. Foulke said Saturday that he had no statement to make. Reason for the charge that Mr. Foulke employed only Japanese and Chinese help is not known as Mr. Foulke does not employ persons of either nationality.!

Foulke (1848-1935) was a lawyer, journalist, and social reformer who moved to Richmond in 1876. He was a state senator from 1882-1886. He was a member of the Progressive Party and president of the American Woman Suffrage Association.
