I recently announced my candidacy for the U.S. Senate. It is critical that we elect "real"
conservatives who have the courage of their convictions!
In just a moment I'll tell you why I'm running and why I believe I will win the Republican
nomination and win in November 2014.

Now, let me tell you a little bit about who I am and why I am the right choice to serve you as the
next Senator from South Dakota.
I am a proud 4th generation South Dakotan. On my father 's side, my ancestors came to America
from Denmark in the late 1800's in hopes of a better life and the prospects of private property
ownership. They soon settled north of Lake Andes, worked the land, raised a family, and became good,
patriotic citizens who loved this country.

to be a true public servant for the hard working people of South Dakota. I know firsthand how hard
South Dakota's ranchers, cattlemen, and farmers work on behalf of their families. I know how important
their work is - not just for South Dakotans, but for our entire country.
I credit my parents for instilling in me strong morals, work ethic, respect for private property,
and a sense of civic duty. My mother raised us and worked on our small family farm. My father was
both a farmer and public servant. I am proud of the hard work we accomplished on our small farm and
for my grandfather on his. It taught me the South Dakota farmer work ethic and ingenuity can overcome
anything!
Before becoming a renowned South Dakota State Trooper, my father volunteered and served in
the Army during the Cold War years. Before him, my five uncles served in the Army, two of my great
uncles made the ultimate sacrifice for our country; one as an MIA at the battle of Okinawa, and the other

from injuries in Germany during WWII. My great grandfather served in the Union Army during the
Civil War and was a POW at the infamous Andersonville Confederate prison. Now my children carry on
that tradition with my daughter serving in the Navy, and my son in the Coast Guard.
My family was proud that after graduating from Mitchell High School in 1985 I followed the
family tradition of military service, and joined the U.S. Marines.
The Benefit of 13 Yi years of service as a Marine taught me to be a leader and a dedicated law
enforcement officer. It set the foundation for me to become a successful Na val Criminal Investigative
Service (NCIS) Special Agent and Investigator.
In addition to cases I worked as an NCIS Special Agent and Investigator, I also taught numerous
classes to tens of thousands of military members, dependents, DOD civilians, and allied personnel. I
was featured in several videos, including the NCIS video "NarcoTerrorism - The Threat to National
Security," and the Oscar-nominated documentary "The Invisible War."
My conservative voting record is unmatched. As a South Dakota State Representative, I held true
to the principles of limited government and family values by voting to:
Fight abortions of unborn children.
Increase protection of property rights from state government.
Prohibit employment of illegal aliens, and enforce penalties for those who hire them.
Support school choice of parents who want to educate their children at home or private schools.
Protect your 2nd Amendment rights.
Oppose increases in taxes, fees, spending, and expansion of state government.
That's who I am and why I am running!

we're going to be "gifted" with a health care plan Americans are forced to purchase, and fined if we
don't. This plan is meant to cover at least ten million more people, but fails to add a single new doctor.
Instead, it provides for 16,000 new IRS agents who have recently demonstrated their objective
and professional integrity.
It was written by a committee whose chairman says he doesn't understand it, and passed by a
Congress that didn't read it - and who exempted themselves from it!
We'll be taxed for four years before any of Obamacare's benefits take effect. The politicians
overseeing its implementation are the same politicians who bankrupted Social Security and Medicare,
Fannie Mae and Freddy Mac, and the Post Office. To top it off, our country is too broke to finance it!
It's time to take America back; to the future where our nation once again is vibrant,
robust and alive.

Uphold the Constitution: Support only legislation that is constitutionally sound and which equally applies to
all Americans, including Congress.
Lower Tax Rates: Oppose any and all efforts to increase the marginal income tax rates for individuals and/ or
businesses.
Cut Income Taxes: Work for the reduction of the income tax; review and reduction of other federal taxes; limit
or reduce government spending.
Fight for a Balanced Budget: Except when related to a congressional authorization of force, I will consider all
spending open for reduction and vote only for budgets that present a path to balance; and, vote against any
appropriations bill that increases total spending and against the authorization or funding of new programs
without offsetting cuts in other programs.
Oppose Judges who Legislate from the Bench: Support only U.S. Supreme Court and U.S. Federal Court
judicial nominees who are committed to restraint and applying the original meaning of the Constitution.
Stop Government Bailouts: Oppose any further "stimulus" spending or bailouts.
Eliminate Inheritance Taxes: Work for the repeal of the federal death tax.
Halt Amnesty: Oppose any amnesty for illegal aliens; actively work to require the securing of our borqers; and,
support measures which prohibit employers from knowingly hiring illegal aliens.
Improve Health Care: Work for a full repeal of Obama Care (also known as the Patient Protection and Affordable
Care Act); and, I will oppose any bill or budget resolution that provides funding to implement or enforce any part

End Taxpayer Funded Abortions: Support pro-life legislation to permanently end all taxpayer funding of abortion
in all domestic and international spending programs.
Champion Second Amendment Rights: Oppose any efforts to seize, or require registration of, Americans' firearms
or any other effort to subvert or limit Americans' Constitutional Second Amendment rights.
Reform Welfare Programs: Support legislation which requires drug testing for anyone receiving public assistance.
Support Term Limits: Honor my oath to support the Constitution of the State of South Dakota, to serve no
more than two consecutive terms.
Help our Veterans: Care for our veterans and for their widows and orphans, by working with the American
Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Fleet Reserve Association, Marine Corps League, Disabled American Veterans,
