Safe Electrical Wiring in Home

On Tuesday, 2 of October, fires rushed a slum area, Kelapa Gading, North B. Thousands residents lost their home. That is one of many fire incidents. These fires caused the loss of hundreds lifes and injured thousands more. Some of these fire are caused by the failure in electrical wiring. Therefor, it is important for us to pay attention to the safety of electrical wiring in our home. Electrical wiring is the connection between electrical devices using insulated conductors. The insulated conductors here are used to carry electricity. They are usually known as wires or cables. To get the safety of electrical wiring in our home, it is important to identify what type, color, and size of the wire is needed. There are three types of wiring have been used in millions homes for a long time ago. In 1800 until 1930 people used knob and tube wiring for their house. It used ceramics knob to separate wires from combustible frame. But it can be damaged easily by aging and the fault of renovation. In 1960 until 1970 people used aluminium wiring that replace copper wires with aluminium instead as the price of copper increased. But, aluminium is highly responsive to the fluctuative of temperature so it can cause high resistance connection that can lead to fires. From 1940 until now people use grounded electrical system. Grounding is safety feature that can protects us from shock. We need the proper size of wire when we install any electrical wire instalation. It depends on the gauge of the wire, wire capacity, and what the wire will be used for. Gauge is the unit refers the size of a wire. Wire with smaller gauge can handle larger ampacity. Ampacity is the amount of electric current can be carried by the wire safely. The color of the wire inside the cover show that every different color has its own purposes. We need to match the color of the wire with the purpose of the installation. Electrical wires that are used for home electrical installation including phase, neutral, and ground conductors. Blue wires are used for neutral conductors, green or green with yellow stripe wires are used for grounding, and black wires for phase conductors. There are some common mistakes people usually made in their home electrical wiring. If we try to avoid these mistakes, it will be easier for us to get the safety of electrical wiring in our home. First mistake is making connection outside electrical box. The box is used to protect the connections. When there is no electrical box, there will be any accidental damage in the connection. Second mistake is cutting the wires to short. Too short wires will make the connection of the wires difficult. Third, loose switches or outlets. The connected outlet can move around and causing the looseness of the wire from the terminal. The loose wires can overheat and and lead to fires. Fourth, mistake is overfilling electrical boxes. If there are too many wires filling the electrical box, overheating, short circuiting, and fires can happens. There are many more mistakes in home electrical wiring. If the mistake is left uncorrected, it can cause short circuits, shocks, and even fires. We must be carefull in doing electr ical wiring. Because, if we dont do it carefully, error or trouble will happen. The trouble even can danger ourselves. To avoid the mistakes, we have to identify what type, color, and size of the wire is needed. Avoid the common mistakes also can help us to make safe electrical wiring.
