Headmasters Corner
I would like to thank the many parents who attended this weeks FOTM meeting and Senior School information evening. Starting with FOTM, we would like to thank Mrs Sarah Preston for all her hard work on the committee as she announced that she would be stepping down as Vice-Chair. She will be replaced by Mrs Leanne Edwards and Mrs Kelly Patel who will share the role. Mrs Camilla Allen has kindly stepped in to be Secretary whilst Mr Rob Preston is away overseas. I was delighted that the committee were unanimous in their backing to develop the new adventure playground and complete the work that has been undertaken in the school hall. The Senior School evening on Thursday was a resounding success and we look forward to arranging another for next term with two other schools. I know that Mr Holliday and Mrs Tobias thoroughly enjoyed the evening.

Milkshake Monday Morning

It was Year 6's turn to have their Milkshake in the library this week. They had delicious banana milkshakes complete with floating ice cream and biscuits while they listened to one very short and scary story followed by an extract from Cressida Cowell's "How to Train A Dragon". After these literary and culinary feasts, they were free to browse the library and share their thoughts on what good books they had read and what they wanted to read. The library has refreshed its stock again with books from the GLS and we will soon be getting a complete new stock of books for the children in Nursery, Years R, 1 and 2, who are regular visitors to the library. Many thanks again to the Kitchen Staff, Mrs Baglin and Mr Mildon who came to spend time with his tutor group in the library. Ms Case

Year 2 Star
Well done to Kaya Priove in Year 2 who had 7 inches of her hair cut off to support the charity 'The Little Princess Trust' which provides real-hair wigs to boys and girls across the UK and Ireland that have sadly lost their own hair through cancer treatment. If you would like to support Kaya and her brave donation please use the link below. http://www.littleprincesses.org.uk/

Reception News
Reception had a fantastic outing this week. We went to the pet shop to collect the two newest additions to our class, Humphrey and Basil the Guinea Pigs. The names were chosen through a Lower School competition and, after lots of suggestions the lucky winner was Lily Edwards. I would like to thank the children in Reception for their enthusiasm and manners during this trip.

Photography Competition Winners

Well done to everyone who entered the Photography Competition last term. There were some super entries and we had a very difficult job judging! Our runner up was Iona Campbell with her beautiful picture of autumn leaves and the winner was Alex Gooch with his stunning photograph of the London Eye at night. Well done!

Look @ My Work Assembly

The first Look@My Work assembly of 2014 took place this week in the newly decorated hall. We were very lucky to welcome Mrs Clayton, who is a consultant children's nephrologist. She spoke to us about the work that she does at The Bristol Children's Hospital where she looks after children with kidney disorders. Her talk was interesting and very informative. The children were fascinated to discover that you can exchange your blood through transfusion and that your heart does not move its position in the body when a kidney is removed! They saw a Kidney Transplant Journey between a father and a son which generated many questions and helped us all to appreciate how skilled the work of a consultant is. Mrs Clayton was asked many questions and she fielded them beautifully. We thank her very much for coming into school to share her world with ours! Ms Case
