INTRODUCTION Mobile phone (also known as a cellular phone, cell phone and hand phone) is a device that can make and receive telephone calls over a radio link while moving around a wide geographic are. It does so by connecting to a cellular network provided by a mobile phone operator, allowing access to the public telephone network.(Wikipedia) Standard mobile phones only provide call and messaging. Mobile phones that provided service such as internet browsing, wireless protocol, business application, games and photography known as Smartphone. In the past 30 years, mobile phones have become a necessity or every inhabitant o this planet. !rom "ust a communication tool through conversation, it has gone through an evolutionary process that eventually make mobile phones as a tool that can manage every detail o human li e.#he personal nature o the mobile changes the nature o the roles it plays, dispensing with the old necessity to sit by the phone and wait or it to ring, but adding to the signi icance o e$changing numbers and making calls. In the beginning o its creation, mobile phones is nothing but a big black bo$ that allows us to communicate through it, then itgetting small in si%e but increasing it ability, and now it is back to being big and the unction is becoming more and more advance which mobile phones these day give us a space to do almost everything such as browsing the internet, listening to a song, playing games, become a navigation system and so many other things almost e&ual to personal computer but with ability o mobility. ' report rom (artner stated that the shi t to wireless access and portable devices represents both a threat and an opportunity to technology vendor. )*arly adopters tend to leave the home laptop in the bag and are abandoning the home o ice in avor o the lounge room couch or bedroom to do online activities in a more com ortable environment using a tablet or smartphone. #his early adopter trend is becoming mainstream consumer behavior..+ (Nick Ingelbrecht, 2013). #he degree o dependence on mobile phone is becoming increasingly alarming as most mobile phone users eel without them li e would be di icult. #his is because in their day,to,day li e, too much time was spent with the mobile phone and its applications such as acebook, twitter, chat rooms and games. #hese cases mostly involve the youth who are studying either at college, university or primary and secondary schools.

-Mobile phones e$istence solves many problems and provides us with new technology in communication. .y using a device that small enough to it in one hand, we can access the entire world/s in ormation anytime and anywhere, regardless who we are or what we are doing. -0hatever it is called and however it is used, the cell phone alters the possibilities and practicalities o many aspects o everyday li e+ 1r.Sadie 2lant (3004) 5owever, does it sa e and what kind o harm it can be done to us despite all best things it can give to us6 #his study will reveal the mobile phones advantages and disadvantages, and did the advantages is dominant than disadvantages6 7owadays, the use o mobile phones completely di erent rom what it is or the past 30 years. !rom than "ust making calls, send te$t messages, picture messages and the video call. *volution o today/s mobile phones enables us to sur the internet and share almost everything with amily and riends through the internet regardless o distance and time.

'mong the most common problems associated with the use o mobile phones is the impact on consumers health. #he debate on this matter became a hot topic since mobile phones irst appeared in the communication technology. #his is because mobile phones use electromagnetic radiation in the microwave range, which some believe may be harm ul to human health. 0orld 5ealth 8rgani%ation (058) in their report or press release on 31 May 2011 stated that radio re&uency electromagnetic ields as possibly carcinogenic to humans((roup 3.), based on an increased risk or glioma, a malignant type o brain cancer, associated with wireless phone use. #he study or the same cause by Surgical 7eorology show the result that using a cell phone or 940 years appro$imately doubles the risk o being diagnosed with a brain tumor on the same (-ipsilateral+) side o the head as that pre erred or cell phone use. #he data achieve statistical signi icance or glioma and acoustic neuroma but not or meningioma. (300: ).#here are also many others studies that conclude, the radio re&uency rom mobile phone will a ect the human brain and can be a risk o cancer. 5owever, British Medical J !rnal on their website on March 3043 stated that the increase in brain cancers has not paralleled the increase in mobile phone use, so the connection between mobile phones and brain cancer still can be &uestioned. #he use o hands, ree mo matter wired or bluetooth can at times pass on loud sounds to our ears which can result in weakening o ear, drums. 0ith latest mobile phone comes with ability to
3

download lot/s o songs, so keeping the hands, ree glued inside your ears or long hours can really a ect the sensitivity o ears in the long run o li e. #he sur ace o a cell phone has millions o bacteria and virus on it and that can be a strong reason o immediate skin problem on ace or can result into other internal in ections wherein the microbes creep inside the body through mouth or other openings. Some use the keypad e$cessively; due to si%e restrictions the buttons and keypad o the cell phone are not natural or human hands; so e$cessive and prolonged typing can be an issue or ingers and inger "oints. #here also a cases o cell phone blasts, due to the e$cessive heating up o it/s battery. #here are reports that radiation rom mobile phones can inter ere with the brain development o children. <hildren that grow up in our new mobile phone world are e$posed to microwave radiation rom the moment they are in the womb. 5owever, the e ects o microwave radiation on in ants is unknown to most parents. #he Stewart =eport is a report commissioned by the .ritish 2arliament in response to ears that mobile phone use could be linked to memory loss, and even 'l%heimer/s 1isease. It e$plains the e ect o mobile phone radiation on children> ' one year old could absorb around double the radiation, and a ive year old around ?0@, more than an adult. 'dditionally, since children are being e$posed to radiation rom base stations and rom mobile phones as well starting rom a younger age than adults, they will have a longer time in which to accumulate e$posure over the course o their lives, and a longer time or any delayed e ects o e$posure to develop.

'nother problem seems to be related much with mobile phones is user/s social li e. .y social li e, it means relationship between amily, riends, neighbors and community. #he main purpose o creation o mobile phone is to acilitate communication and rapport with each other. .ut, it evolved into a tool that serves to do almost anything; its main purpose has become increasingly widespread. 2eople nowaday use their mobile phones to access an internet which give them a lot o option to communicate, some with an email, others in their chatting room, gaming %one, social networking site and etc. #his will make mobile phone users to be immersed in their online world and do not reali%e what is happening around them. #his e ect is similar to personal computer

users but it can happen not "ust at home or o ice, it might happen even in places such as bus or train stations, co ee shop, ca eteria, in the classroom and on the go. 'bena .emah (3043) stated in her "ournal while her standing in the train, -most o those who stood close by me had their mobile phones in their hands as they idgeted with it. Some were listening to music, others were browsing the internet, te$t chatting, playing a game, whatsoever. I observed that almost three ourth o those standing close by were doing something with their phones. #hey gave a hundred percent o their attention to their mobile phone device and ignored the people standing by them+. #his situation is prove that mobile phones making people less social in real li e. #hey do not care about their surrounding. 'll o this could reach a point o addiction, leading to a loss o productivity on the part o a worker who has tasks to accomplish, or a student who has classwork or a lecture to listen to. Many people say that their mobiles have made it much easier to lie about eelings and intentions, or more commonly, arrangement and whereabout. #his will o tenly a ect relationship and trust. 5usband lied to wi e, children lied to parents, employee lied to employer, student lied to teacher and vice versa. #his will corrupt community or sure. !or some case, there are some mobile phone user that have a second phone that o ten is kept secret rom other amily members. #hese phones may be used to engage in activities including e$tramarital a airs.#his might be the reason the collapse o a marriage institution which should be built on trust. Several people tend to care so much about their mobile phone. #hey built an emotional attachment with their phones. It become the last thing they touch be ore sleep, and the irst thing to check a ter sleep. 0hen they lost it, they became depressed, murky and their li e seem to end. Some o them ever panic when their phones run out credit or they were at location that no signal reception. #his called 7omophobia , 7o Mobile 2hone 2hobia.

Mobile phones with advanced unctions come with an e$pensive price. 5owever, most users do not take into account the economic actor to buy the mobile phone. #hey are sometimes more concerned with style with reason to technological development. #his can be seen with teenager at college and school. 0ith no income rom their side, they normally use their education loan to buy an e$pensive phone. It is not wrong i they really capable o , but, they not. #heir loan is actually or an educational purpose; to buy a book and everything related. #his is not happen to teenagers

Smartphone/s is a mobile phone with so many applications on it. #here are thousands application that can be installed and used. Most o them were ree, but some o them need to be paid to download and install into phones. #his application consists o various categories; business, education, religion, games, entertainment and more. Many mobile phone users are more com ortable and satis ied with the ree applications available online. #he problem is with those who are looking or similar application eatures and unctions, perhaps with some advantages but re&uires a certain ee. 5undreds application are use ul or user but another thousand might be crap, even or paid application. Some user tend to try this application and here, they "ust wasting their money on something that they barely used it. Service provider normally setting up various plan to attract user to using their service. #here are call plans, te$ting plans, and internet plans. Aser that subscribe or any plans normally doesnt care enough about the rate. #hey "ust want to use it. Sometimes, there are some ridiculous charge on users bill. Aser have to pay double or even tripple because o their lack o in ormation about service that they are using. #his will be a waste o money. #he same goes or user o prepaid. .y using prepaid, they think o some saving the spending on phone bills. 5owever, using a prepaid without control might be more waste than user with i$ed plan.

0ith millions o people around the world currently use mobile phones and it is growing daily as consumers get bombarded by advertising campaigns rom mobile phone manu acture that e$horting them to upgrade to the latest, most ashionable model. I any o these metals are allowed to leak into the environment, e.g. in a land ill when 7i<d battery cases rupture or corrode, in signi icant &uantities, they may leach into the water courses or contaminate the soil.
