2. General description of the subject Today, English is considered the universal language for different areas as, education, international communications, business, entertainment, tourism, trade and technology. The majority of all resources on the internet are in English, affecting people to learn English to take full advantage of it. Above all, learning English is important for being able to exchange views and make friends with people all over the world through the four integrated skills. 3. Learning Goals In all macro skills, students will be able to: Listening Follow changes of topic of factual TV news items, and form an idea of the main content. Understand phrases and expressions related to areas of most immediate priority (e.g. very basic personal and family information, shopping, local geography, employment) provided speech is clearly and slowly articulated. Identify the topic of discussion around them, when it is conducted slowly and clearly. Understand and extract the essential information from short, recorded passages dealing with predictable everyday matters which are delivered slowly and clearly. Speaking Give reasons and explanations for opinions, plans and actions. Order a meal. Give a short, rehearsed, basic presentation on a familiar subject. Answer straightforward follow up questions as they can ask for repetition and if some help with the formulation of their reply is possible. Reading Understand short, simple texts containing the highest frequency vocabulary, including a proportion of shared international vocabulary items. Find specific, predictable information in simple everyday material such as advertisements, prospectuses, menus, reference lists and timetables.

Identify specific information in simpler written material they encounter such as letters, brochures and short newspaper articles describing events. Understand simple instructions on equipment encountered in everyday life such as a public telephone. Writing Write a series of simple phrases and sentences about their family, living conditions, educational background, present or most recent job. Write very brief reports to a standard conventionalized format, which pass on routine factual information and state reasons for actions. Write personal letters expressing thanks and apology.
